Pure Drive 2021?

There is scheduled to be a new Pure Drive for 2021.

Has anyone tested it or have any info regarding the new PD?

Thanks in advance.

hearing US Open (September-ish) launch

guessing it will be blue, stiff, powerful, 16x19 string pattern slightly softer or have slightly "more feel" than Pure Dive 2018.

A decent number of people on the message board will hate it, saying it's ruining the game as they wish for wood rackets or some HEAD frame that hasn't been made in 30 years while posting photos of pros using a PD2021 pj. Others will defend it and claim it's amazing. For the most part, we'll reluctantly agree that everyone has different racquet preferences and to each their own.

I'll test it, play with string combos, add a leather grip, flirt with the Tour version, and ultimately stick with my Pure Strike.

People not on the message board will buy it by the truck load and it will be one of the best selling racquets. Babolat will sprinkle in some special cosmetics every 12-18 months (IMO, been on a roll since Decima PA) that cost $10 more and then we repeat the process and this post in summer 2023 for the Pure Drive 2024.

edit: bored and this was fun... I am looking forward to demoing

I didn't try the 2018, but the 4 3/8 grip size on the 2021 is pretty close to the 4 1/2 Wilson frames I have, so I'm guessing yes?
I think what you're describing is fairly typical, there's been an additional slight increase present in the recent AERO models. My PAVS 2020 had a bigger grip than my 2021 PD though, so it seems the grip size increase is limited to the AERO line for now.

Thanks so I'll order my usual size just so we can all try it out.

Are the grip sizes standard or slightly bigger than normal like last models?

I got my usual grip size of 1/4 and have been playing with it for a week now. The base grip compresses over time and it will be the right size even if it feels a little big at first.

I also am switching between the PD and Wilson frames with 1/4 grip. No real noticeable difference that bothers me at all.

I am a 4 1/4. My wife and I just finish hitting with our new PD21 and the grip was noticeably bigger to us. Got home and measured it. Looks like I'll be trading it in.

Very true. But switching between this and my "4 1/8" PA19 caused a little bit of discomfort in my wrist and elbow. I don't feel like enduring the pain just to get there. Already found parties interested in a barely used racquet.

Here's the measurement of my PA19:

Other than that, this thing definitely swings a lot beefier than my Pure Aero 2019 and my wife's 3rd Gen Pure Strike 100. It's a lot more stable on the shots and has more plow through.

Ahh, bummer. Mine was the same exact size as my 2013 APDs when I measured them. Hope it gets sorted!

I bought a PD recently. I used to play with one years ago 2011 when I first got back into tennis. Overall Im very impressed with it. Its easy to switch to offense and it gives you confidence to go for shots. It does everything well and can execute touch as well as power. Only downside is its stiffness. So use a multi at low tension.

Does anyone else have thoughts or experience with this new Pure Drive? I'm very tempted by it and would love input!

TW Europe has the new ones up if anyone wants to read the specs. Looks like 1/15/21 they should be around. I've been waiting for the Tour!!! I've hit with my brother's regular drive the past months and like it, but always like the Tour models and use an Aero Tour now.

While I’m not a fan of the Pure Drive, I do notice TW Europe publishes both strung and unstrung weight/balance. Have they always done this?

Wish TW would follow their lead.
