The price of the red Pure Drive GT has been reduced to $149.

I am currently using the regular (blue) Pure Drive GT and I've been thinking of buying a backup racquet. Does anyone own of these 135th Anniversary racquets? Do they play exactly identical to the blue ones?

They're not exactly identical. I think the 135th model is a bit head heavier because of the bumper guard (PDGT has holes, while 135th doesn't).
Of course, a PD is a PD. If it's only a backup, consider getting a used one maybe? You can get a used PDGT for maybe $90ish on the boards. But if you're gonna go with this, just know it's not the exact same racquet. Some people have both, and tried to match them, but it doesn't play the exact same. But whatever you want!

Interesting pricing.... why would anybody buy a regular PD when you can get a special edition for a lower price...

I'm guessing the cost of lead paint went down.

Then why isnt Babolat dropping price on other current models? Why arent other manufacturers, Volkl/Head/Wilson/Prince/etc, dropping price on their current models?

Are you saying Babolat specifically chose a different type of paint, lead paint, only on this anniversary edition so they can sell at a lower price?

Try again.

Not that I'm a huge PDR afficianado, but I actually thought the Anniversary version played slightly better. But, it's probably all in my head.

Anyway, it's a great deal for someone who wants a PDR at a cheaper price. I wouldn't worry too much about the minimal differences if there are any.

Did I say something offensive?

I think Agent Orange was just joking.
But the only reason Babolat is dropping the price on the 135 PD only is because Babolat sopped making them already, which is why it's a limited edition. So TW is just selling their extras to clear their stock.

Wink wink, nudge nudge. ;)

An electron walks into a bar and asks the bartender, "How much for a drink?". The bartender replies, "For you? No charge."

The racket's cosmetics look awesome up close - much better than from a website image. Babolat should make red the permanent colour of the standard Pure Drives, just for easier differentiation. Then a limited edition one in "Sampras Black" would be an easy money maker as well.
