Pure Drive + Swirly 2nd Gen specs/opinions?

Anyone got the (ideally) strung static weight, SW and other specs for the PD + Swirly 2nd Gen? (Roddick's frame, I think).

Also, just testimonies and views from ppl who've hit with it... how much did you like it (or not) and why?

Finally, I'm wondering how it might contrast with the PC+ Swirly which I am familiar with - a great frame (loved the feel, solidness, power, control, spin), but it was a bit too beefy for me at approx 350 SW/12.3g (strung).

TIA

Mr. Ross, one of my friends (and one of the best players I have ever known :)) still uses them. I remember him saying that the lightest and the heaviest were 9 grams apart and sw's were 15 points apart. Yep, bp's were also 4 points apart iirc. I used them a bit and they played stiff, really stiff. Serves were great as expected. Btw, I also had Andy's real racquet and it played considerably softer. That can be explained by its setup (polarized: silicone plus lead tape at 10 and 2) so I am not sure if its stiffness was actual or perceived :)

Try clicking on 'Racquet Finder' tab; manufacturer 'Babolat;' Name 'plus'; and uncheck 'Current Models Only'

Your Pure Control as well as other plus length racquets will appear. From there, you can also access the TW reviews, etc. as well as see what TW measured for the frames.

BTW, waiting to see which racquet will be judged 'da best' by the group in your great thread.

Bob,
Cheers for that... I remember well your ARod racket thread.

esgee,
Thanks too... well, don't know about the best ever, but the 6.1s (various versions) are suddenly very popular with quite a few of us in that group atm. (Of course it will be something else in a month's time. :))

The specs for the "Swirly" Pure Drive were no different than other Pure Drives. Same unstrung weight. Same balance/swingweight. Same 70ish RA stiffness. Not factoring in individual racquet variations of course. I used the "Swirly" and then the subsequent "Team" version (before the first Cortex iteration) for a while, and there was no difference between the two aside from the paintjob. Had a bunch of those sticks.

It's not like the older 2001 Pure Controls (which I also used way back when) v. the later Pure Controls since the unstrung weight and stiffness were considerably different between those versions.

Just to clarify WhiteStripes, are you saying this:

Has the same specs and performance as the PD+ Swirly 2nd Generation (the ARod frame)?

TIA

No-one else playing any of these (let's throw them all in the mix here: Swirly, Team, GT, etc) pluses? Really impressed by the b-line, big serve and extra reach when I played with my Swirly yesterday. Seems to me to be tailor-made for modern b-line play, possibly if you're not tall too (I'm average height.) Sure, a bit one-dimensional perhaps, but... well, that suits my game LOL! Would love to hear more feedback and general thoughts any of you may have.

Received my Swirly Team+ earlier this week. It turned out to be the Swirly Team version rather than just Swirly. It is in 9+/10 condition, fella used it as a back up and said it was on it's 3rd string job, really the only signs of use was the grip, and a small rub on the bumper. It had the same exact specs as my standard swirl except the balance point; weighed in at 314g strung and was pretty light, but still has the same solid feel as my swirly regular.

I added 15g inside the handle,a leather grip and a few grams of lead at the tip. Spec'd now at 346g with an og and damp, 31.5 balance pt, same as my std version. I will report back later in the week after a proper hit.
