Pure Drive vs. Ezone 100: How Different?

Hi everyone, I’m going to be trying the current pure drive and ezone 100. I was wanting to know from people how different these 2 racquets are as people describe the ezone 100 as a controlled pure drive. I’m stringing the pure drive with pro line 1.25 and 1.20 at 50 and the ezone with PTP 1.25 at 48 and 1.20 at 50 and maybe pro line or max power 1.25 at 50. I’m curious as to peoples experiences for those who have tried both frames as to how much they differ in power, maneuverability, spin potential, stability, and control. I’m mainly looking at power, maneuverability, and spin potential as the characteristics im most concerned with. The beam width of the ezone 100 makes me think it is on par with the pure drive for power as I’m looking for something that can give me easy power with less effort that swings easy and can really lift/spin the ball, and the description of the ezone as a “controlled pure drive” makes me worried it won’t live up to my power concerns.

I found the PD to be a max power racket and any flat shot is off the back wall. But if you have great topspin, it can be a weapon and serves are a dream. But flat strokes and volleys are a weakness. The Ezone 100, while a power racket has a tighter string pattern in center and has a little more controlled power. I actually think the ezone is unique in that it does not excel in any one stroke, its just great in all of them and there are no real trade offs. It is just a great all around stick. I liked it better than the ezone 98.

agree, pure striker what is your string of choice and tensions in the ezone 100

Would you say there is a noticeable drop in power in the ezone from the pure drive? Cause my concern is near the end of a match for a few hours in practice I don’t want to feel like I’m struggling for racquet head speed and depth and want my racquet to help alleviate that sensation a little.

I think it is noticable, but I also think you will be able to get plenty of depth and speed from the ezone. The swing weight on the ezone is lighter than the pure drive. If anything, you will be more than likely to sail balls if you get tired and cannot load massive spin on the racket.

So you’d say the pure drive is powerful to a fault, while the ezone is powerful but can sometimes be a little bit not powerful enough?

Yes, I would say that for my game. I couldn't keep it in the court as consistently as I did the ezone. Especially on returns of serve or volleys. However, in full transparency I have no problem generating power and spin.

My favorite PD was the version that had the same string pattern as the APD origin.

Single skip and tighter 16X19. Much more controlled and no impact on power really.

If your arm can handle the Pure Drive then I feel it's the better overall racquet. More power, more spin, and just makes everything easier. Ezone 100 IMO is a PD-lite in that it's similar but offers a little less of everything outside of control where they are pretty close.

A few PD’s popped up that are low RA pro stocks.
Single main skip 16/19’s. Same/similar as those sold on pro stock rackets a few years back. I believe RA is 62 - 64.

Worth playing if you can find them. It’s probably the my personal favorite frame iv’e played with in the last five years.

Where are these?

I saw some on the bay

I made a deal and bought 5, already had 2.

I think there are some left. Mine were all matched by one of the pro customizers in NYC so specs were identical.

PD is a cannon, and the Vcore is a cannon with a silencer so its a bit more controllable but opposite side of the feel spectrum as the PD.

In my opinion tested the e zone yoesterday (spinny swinging player) Ezone is ideal for flat hitters when You don't have swing hard but the feedback in ball pace is noticable like in heavy frames, but for spin game it has no feel at all, maybe I didn't get used to it after few sessions, but the ball fell of the strings (could be a string choice reason).
Moreover the weight distribution is somehow helping with plowthrough in flat strokes, but with spin ones not so - despite the resonable HL balance.
Pure Drive it rocket launcher you have manage the power, and do not take big effort just to put the racket to the ball without intent to make a fast shot, unless You want to hit the oponent ;)
