Pure Strike 2024

I hope they don't change the specs too much... the PS16x19 is close to perfect. the string pattern is tight enough (actually tighter than on my TF40 16x19!!). A tad more flex would be welcome and call it perfect!!

RA 63-64 strung!! :D
Pretty sure they made this prior. I believe it was called the Pure Storm

There’s a couple of threads on the PD and the thought is that it might be AO ‘25 (I had said mid to late since the PD cycle is usually released in the Fall)

I would expect either AO '25 or perhaps around US Open '24 - similar to the Aero rollout they may have one model (the regular PD) available at the end of 2024 and then the rest of the line at the start in 2025 which would probably be reasonable since it's been such a long wait and the production issues have probably resolved right now to some extent

The guy from the official Babolat store/distributor in my country (and I'm lucky enough to live in the same city the shop is located) just called me to say they've just received the first big bunch of test racquets - Pure Strike 2024 (I believe all new models). It's just my luck that I had a shoulder surgery last Thursday so I'll have to wait a couple of months to test them
But you guys (those in Europe at least) should get your hands on the new sticks and let us know your thoughts. The test racquets should be available in all official Babolat stores around Europe by now/soon.

I've been told the Strike will be first, then the Drive. But I also heard the retail industry is going though some upheaval with the potential demise of the ******* Sports/Tennis Point partnership. Don't know all the details but something to do with funding. ************** was mixed up in it as well. Rumor was *******/TP may go belly up.

Surgery go well @Tronco20? I guess well enough to be back on TT :)

Happy road to recovery

Thanks! It went well I guess (I was asleep :) but woke up afterwards so that's the main thing) Now it's all about patience. My movement range is close to zero esp. when it comes to tennis movements, it's hard to imagine now that I'll be able to swing a racquet 100% freely one day, just the thought of it hurts now :D

Is there going to be a 2024 Pure Strike Tour or is it confirmed that they have done away with the Tour version just like they did in Gen 2?

Just picked up several of the outgoing model during the Black Friday sale. Forgot how nice these sticks are (even tho I only played with the PO7/v2).

Glad I did. Just a much easier play than what I had been trying to make work (PS97, RadPro, Blade 16m, PSX).

First time in a while I've been this excited about a racquet and fit. Makes me wonder what is wrong with me (and why did I switch away from the PO7??) :-D

I've decided that RA only means so much to me. I've played 69-71 RA racquets that are way more comfortable than 65ish RA racquets. Not sure what to expect from Babolat here but I'm holding out hope

Yeah, better to know the vibration frequency that only TW measures and publishes in their TWU section. This correlates much better with comfort than RA stiffness in my experience. Babolat racquets seem to be more comfortable than their RA which is why they have the bestselling models (Aero, Drive) for high-stiffness range racquets.

Amen to this. Played with a Pure Strike for years with zero comfort problems. Played with a TF40 for a week and my arm hated me. RA doesn’t tell the whole story.

Same, never had issues with the v2 and the v3 feels very plush to me. Definitely can feel that I've played with the PD the next day tho, but the power and throughput of that was enough for me to reconsider over and over. The Pure Strike is a great middle between traditional/softer/player? frames and the PD/PA (although I like to think of it as a tad more on the traditional side).

New looks like gray/black top grommet and orange stripes (v gray / orange) on the sides... Looks great all the way around, in fact I like all 3 of the color schemes of the v2, v3 and v4.

For me is a downgrade from the VS paintjob... I find most of the white paintjobs boring and this is not an exception. Quite sad and dissapointed in case the racquet just receive a slight update

I like the new paintjob with the orange stripes. However, I agree with your point. The VS paintjob was awesome. Not sure what Babolat was thinking by releasing a separate paint for VS in V3 but not in V4 or will the VS paintjob be back on v4?

Since no one else is saying it I'll just come out and say I actually quite like this paint job. Might be second only to 2022 VS for me, though I really wasn't a fan of the Strike lettering on the throat of the 3rd gen.
I think most people was waiting for a darker paintjob like every other recent babolat racquet drop... I cannot understand why the most "agressive" silo gets the subtle paintjob and that you dont like the lettering as the video shows is still present but gives less details on the white paintjob, God knows I will really miss the orange grommets to give a bit of something

It will be called 97 now and will have the same white paintjob (sight)

Orange groomets with the new orange stripes and full bed of orange strings would be the way to go…..that would look cool!

I guess I don’t understand why they changed it significantly from the other pure strikes in 2022 and change course now in 2024 so they all look the same.
The same as the Aero VS to Aero 98 the VS moniker is hard to explain and the paintjobs in the VS racquets are made less durable so I think is a way to keep it simple and uniform, in case of the Strike... boring IMO

I don't think white is boring necessarily, but white on the 3rd gen pure strikes did look super plasticky to me. felt like plastic too. agree, would have been nice if they changed it up a little more

the new font reminds me of the brush strokes they did for the flag for the Japan version of the pure strike

I think is not unique... Solinco and especially Tecnifibre have a bunch of white racquets really hard to differentiate between models IF you look from a distance and that might be the case with this new strike.
Boring in the sense that is the same color once again with as far as some said a really subtle change in the racquet... So, whats the point of the update? I think this was a chance to make the strike relevant again and as far as cosmetic goes the blade still will catch more appeal. Sad

Not a single person thinks that the new red/black glossy paint job of the Strike VS is not great-looking. In fact many mention it might be their favorite paint job of currently available racquets even if they don’t play with it - I’m in that camp. How can someone at Babolat just decide to discard it in the next generation?

I think I get what they're doing. Brands are rather conservative when it comes to colors. You can make an argument that brands are afraid to deviate from what pj trends Babolat sets.

Blue = power, thanks to pure drive (see Yonex, Wilson, Dunlop, Head with Instinct)
Yellow = spin, thanks to Aero (see Head and Dunlop)
White/orange mean pleener racquets thanks to Project One 7 (this is why Radical switched from red to orange, Whiteout, arguably Tecnifibre)

Red meant control before Babolat had anything to say about it, but it's why the Pure Storms were red. Babolat tried making the PS VS pj different from the rest of their Strike line to signal that it's of the control lineage, but I guess they decided that marketing didn't help sales more. Fewer lines/PJs have become the way to go for every brand not named Head, and it makes more sense for Babolat to make the one Strike paintjob fit the marketing of the Strike products with the largest audience (every racquet that's not the 97).

Again, the VS looks great, but I very much understand why they're doing what they're doing.
