Pure Strike Tour string setup and tensions?

G.O.A.T.
Wanted to find out from Babolat Pure Strike Tour (Gen 3) users on what strings and tensions they are using and what their playing level is. It would be good to hear from those using hybrid string jobs in particular.

I am a 4.5 and have been enjoying a hybrid string job with VS17 gut mains/HyperG 18 crosses at 50/47 lbs - plays great for about 15 hours roughly. I tried HyperG 19 also as a cross and didn’t see much difference from the 18g. I’m looking forward to trying out HyperG soft when it is released. I also have a set of Tour Bite Soft 18g that I plan to try as a cross to compare with the HyperG.

The Gen 3 PST is more comfortable than the Gen 1 PST and it has allowed me to play daily (singles and doubles) since early May in spite of being in my fifties with a sensitive elbow. Wonder what the experience of others is like.

I don't have have the tour, but I have the standard PS 16x19 Gen 3 and I've been through a ton of different polys to try to find the right fit for these control oriented sticks. I have to say that I've finally landed on Volkl Cyclone 17g and 18g at 52/53 lbs. For whatever reason the control, feel, and spin from these strings stand out among the rest. I've been through Hyper-G, Confidential, Tour Bite, BHB7, BHS7T, X-perience, YPTP, YPTSG, Black knight....and the list goes on. Cyclone just feels amazing in this racket and since I string my own rackets I can reload as soon as they die. I haven't experimented with hybrids yet, but I do have a pack of Volkl V-fuse, which is Cyclone/V-Icon (nat gut), that I will be testing soon. Hoping to get a little more power from the gut and still keep the amazing control and spin from the cyclone. I'll chime in again once I try it out

Hyper-G is my next favorite poly and I always have at least one stick strung with it. I have used 16L and 17g strung at @ 52. Just to give you a reference, my game is taking big cuts at the ball on both wings, rarely hit flat so I use top/side spin for control. I find that side by side Hyper-G tends to be a bit stiffer than Cyclone and has less ball pocketing and bite than cyclone. The stiffness lends itself to provide better tension maintenance then Cyclone so Hyper-G tends to keeps its play-ability for longer. I think Hyper-G has adequate control and spin, but to me I think the lack of feel is why I use it less now, especially the closer you get to the net where I tend to get a harsh response with volleys and half volleys. I can't really explain why Cyclone has such a great feel and bite because it looks just like the dozens of other Black polys that I've tried, but it just feels totally different to me. When I take a big cut, it seems like even if my form is a bit off, the strings grab the ball and release it exactly where I am aiming. I was very skeptical before I tried it, but now I'm drinking the cool aid! Try it out and let me know your thoughts.
