Pure Strike VS Owners?

Just got a demo of the newer Pure Strike VS delivered on Friday and have my first change to try it out tonight. Just to be clear, this is the lighter version...not the tour VS.

Very curious about this stick as specs wise, it lines up closely to the Volkl Super G10 295 that I love. Curious about the 16x20 pattern (vs the 16x19 on the Volkl), as I have little experience with it.

I like to add my own weight and this looks like it could be perfect for that too.

Obviously the TW review was down on this particular PS flavor, but in all honesty I wonder how much of that is due to reviewers going in with the preconceived notion of Babolat=free power/user friendly. Anyways, feel is entirely subjective.

If anyone is playing one of these I'd be very interested in your thoughts!

My son grew up playing with the Pure Control Tour and now swings the PSVSTour. He has always loved the balance, SW, feel and control of the 16x20. His coach was so impressed by both sticks that he recommends. It over other popular offerings to his competitive teen and adult students. I am in the "way-to-long" process of shedding my DR100s and have demoed the VSTour several times with multis and poly. It's a great stick. I don't agree with the TW reviews. If you are strong, can avoid "arming" or "muscling" the ball, and can be consistent with a smallish sweetspot, try this NOW! I can only guess as to the VS being lighter, maybe some problems associated with that. But if you are new, or play mainly rec

Pure Aero VS is better suited to players who like the oval beam. Those that prefer a box beam will appreciate the PS VST a little more. My preference, now that I have played diffreent racquets side-by-side is a more traditional box beam...but I am old and grew up playing woth wooden racquets.

I hit Beckers/Volkls for years and hit the former PCT (amazing frame) for several years. I personally loved the 16x20 in the PCT and would say it's my favorite string bed. Coming from Volkl, it's not much of an adjustment because Volkl 16x19s and Storm/Control/VS frames both have 8 of those 16 mains in the bridge -- tighter in the center. If you're accustomed to the 295, it should be a relatively seamless transition.

Interested to hear your thoughts on the VS standard. I've stayed away from the new line because of the reports of higher stiffness.

2 of my friends found it to be very underpowered.

Yeah it is one of them low-medium power frames, but only a bit of lead and it comes alive, it's really a great frame with lead. I tried a club members with lead at 12, 2or3gr I think and some in the handle and it was very very nice!

As someone who has had a few recurring bouts of TE over time, I can providew anecdotal testimony to the comfort of this stick, IF you consistently hit in the center of the stringbed. If you are prone to mishits or shanks, keep looking.

I hit pretty clean and I like to string low. I'm loving my Angell TC95s these days, but I've kicked myself over-and-over for selling and not stocking up on the PCT a few years ago. They're almost extinct. But this is promising. Thanks.

Same. My son and I preferred the PCT and at a couple of junior tournaments he was envious of a player with a 12 pack bag full of PCTs, but time waits for noone.

If only Babolat offered a Plus version of their more control-oriented sticks. If only. Listen to me @Babolat Official , your PS Limited Plus is a fabulous frame and I’m sure the same would apply to the VS frames, whichever one you choose to offer lengthened!

Pure control 95+ (same mold as ps Ltd +) is a beasty racquet. They also have a pure control plus (or tour plus? Don’t remember exactly) which looks perfect on paper from spec. It should be the same as pure strike vs plus you are looking for but seems like it was never too popular here.

Lol, at least the Babolat official heard you. All ex-length fans owe you a thx if Bab takes back the plus versions back for the next generation. However I do understand the control / strike vs line is already a minority of Bab's product lines, let alone the extra lengths. wonder how much pure control plus they sold in total since its release 3 years ago. might not even make up for the cost of introducing and producing the separate product. Actually I've heard so many people preferring the plus version after trying side by side 27'' vs 27.5'' versions of the Pure Drive / Aero line. We should definitely change the mindset that 27'' = standard length.

p.s. I see in your sig that you're using a Prokennex q+5x with Wilson leather. Did you get a change to weigh the original PK grip? Thx!

I found an older version used that should be there in the middle of next week. Man, Bab would be well off with at least one control frame with extended length. So many pros use such frames it’s honestly a joke that no others are on offer.

I did not weigh the grips I’m afraid.... just switched and it felt better.

Most of my frames now have Wilson Featherthin grips though.

You can still find some Pure Storm Tours + ;) Outstanding frames

Pure Aero VS Plus... Heh, my wallet doesn't need that. :p I was almost glad I wasn't finding any AeroStorm Plus in my area. This is way too toxic. Only makes me remember the Pure Storm Ltd. Plus even more... Now that was a sweet stick, a nice hammer on the ball while flexing around like a wet noodle... Except it had no spin/launch angle so I never picked some up when it was on sale.

The Storms had a beefy SW, especially when extended. Actually, the whole Babolat line up from that generation had significant SW.

I’ve added lead at 3/9 and spin comes easily. Huge jump on the kick when I go for it! :)

Pure Aero VS Plus, though... :D

Bump. I'd also be interested to hear what people think of the Pure Strike VS (NOT VS Tour) -- owners or people who have tested it. Anyone?
