Pusun PT-SMART tennis ball machine

Just got one and very happy with it. It's suitable for intermediate players, but quite good with maximum speed up to 120 kph and 100+ balls capacity. Easy to operate using smartphone bluetooth connection or the included remote control. So many various drill exercises including lob/smash and volleys and random. You can even program it to land it to wherever you want. The Pro version is way more expensive, but this one is such a bargain at about 1899 AUD (discounted from 1999 AUD) or about 1,245.92 USD. That's actually a discount from a discount lol (the original price is 2499 AUD or 1,638.94 USD). 3 Years warranty which is good.

The Android app is not available on Google Play Store and you have to download it from their website. Google will warn you that it's not safe to install app from unknown source. So I decided to use my very very old Android phone and reset it to factory setting so it's clean and has none of my private data in the phone. Then I install the app from their website and it all works very well. The phone only needs the bluetooth on during the machine operation, no wifi needed so the battery in my phone last very long. The ball machine itself has an external battery which can last 4-6 hours of play from a full charge.

The machine is made in Shenzen China. If you can afford it and you are an advanced player you should get the pro version.

Edit: When you use the ball machine, don't leave the handle extended upright like this photo below, but instead push the handle down fully to hide it and give more space for the balls. When I leave the handle extended up like the photo below, there will be one ball left in the ball holder, meaning not all the balls will be used by the machine. When I push he handle down and hide it, all the balls will be used by the ball machine and no ball will be left in the "bowl". Also, I don't hang the battery like this picture below, but I let it stand on the floor.

I just ordered the SMART PRO version. I was only shopping for big name brands, but when I saw this one, the capability was impressive. Please let me know how it's going, as I've been questioning myself a bit because there aren't many reviews on this machine and it isn't a well known brand.

Yes, my Pusun SMART machine is still going strong. I really like it. I love how I can play tennis when there's no hitting partner available.

Hello-

Yes, for repairs and warranty, etc. I was reaching out directly to their intl sales manager. His name is Alex. He responds quickly.

To my knowledge they either send you parts to repair yourself, or (fir bigger issues) you send it to a California warehouse and someone there completes the repair.

Mine broke after 1 month, so, I was able to return it.

Here is his email. Hopefully, he can provide you with assistance.

@Jillian S was it replaced or refunded? If former, how has it been? Considering getting the Smart Pro myself.
 
@forzis it was refunded. I had many issues that continued compounding within the first month. Four weeks in, it had completely stopped working. Up until then, it was inconsistent with speed, height and direction. As the weeks continued, the malfunctions were more frequent, until it eventually made a loud high pitched sound that wouldn't turn off (unless I unplugged the battery) and no controls or functions would work.
Also something small, but about 15 minutes in, the force behind the ball coming out caused the machine to continue shifting position. I would recommend getting small door wedges, or something to help keep it in place.

I shipped it back. Once the California warehouse received it, they said it was repaired and tried to convince me to accept the repaired machine, but there were just too many issues and I wasn't confident it would last. So, I requested the refund.

I may have just gotten a faulty machine. But the shifting during use is something to be aware of.

I'm in the market for a new ball machine. Formerly had a used Lobster Elite that served me well during Covid but it has died, and the functionalities were limited. I also don't like how the battery is built-in and I have to lift the machine out of my car every time to recharge. I'm glad I stumbled on this thread. Based on some YT reviews, I was able to pull the trigger on the Pusun, but now I'm reconsidering spending more for a Titan, as it's probably made with better QC tolerances ...
 
I got my hands on a second hand Smart Pro. Took it for a spin earlier, just to check that it is fully functioning. Didn’t have time to really explore but seems like the default settings are a little too slow for intermediate level. Appreciate if users of this machine can share your settings for hard court that would be appropriate for a solid 4.0 player.

For a standard top spin rally ball in “fixed” mode, this was the setting I arrived at. It gave me the desired depth, pace, bounce height, but felt that the ball still lacked penetration or heaviness. The top spin could have had more kick too.

I had the Pro version but I returned it as there is NO way the speed is as advertised (it's at least 20 MPH slower).

Did you buy yours off Amazon? 99% sure you got my returned machine. Small world!

I returned it for three reasons: (1) There is no way the top speed is accurate, indeed it is too slow for 3.5+ level players; (2) the spin isn't advertised truthfully either; and (3) when you do any drill where there’s a difference in depth (e.g. a baseline forehand and then the ball on the service line), the ball launches way too high. Even though I kept the vertical angle at an "8" (which should be a foot or two above the net), the ball is well over my head (~15-20ft) and lands almost at the fence. It made it impossible to practice.

I would return it before you are stuck with it. I ended up buying a Tenniix ball machine, I hope it arrives before April.

Didn’t get mine off Amazon and only spent another hour with it so far. That hour was spent just testing custom drills. I don’t have an option to return it so just gotta make do with what I’ve got. For now my biggest training need is approach and volley, and overheads so I think the lack of ball speed isn’t a big issue for me.

I paid for the camera model as the feature where it won't serve the next ball until you've done your footwork recovery makes it like you're hitting with a real person and not a machine. Sadly the company cannot be trusted as they lie thru their teeth, but since I live in NYC and I don't think my indoor club would let me bring my own ball machine, I'm just hopeful it'll arrive before spring. I will absolutely post a review one I've played with it!

The company's communication has been truly dismal -- including the claims that shipments were returned to them b/c of problems with the address, hmm.

That footwork recovery does sound interesting. Although my opponents certainly don't wait for me to recover!
 
Hey , I just got the Pusun PT smart pro. Does anybody know if I should put the machine on the baseline or T ? I tried the middle of baseline but balls were going so short in program mode. Does it have to be set up in different areas depending on the drill setting type ?

I believe it is designed to be placed at the baseline but the default settings aren’t great. They seem to be optimised for beginners. I had to increase the ball speed and vertical angle in order to get the depth and pace to my liking.

Yeah same here , default settings my balls went so short and not in the right places . Guess I'll have to play around with the settings

Tenniix also lied about their machine's spec, the top speed is 42MPH and the spin is nowhere close to 5,000 RPM. I made several youtube videos with a speed gun to prove this. It's very disappointing. I am going to try the Proton next.
