coming up next!
 It's Nikolay Davydenko. He's not just some guy; he made the FO semifinal last year playing through several 5-set matches. He also qualified for TMC without having to rely on other players' withdrawals, I think.
lol I love your reason for editing your first post
Federer should take this one pretty easily. I'd be very surprised if he dropped a set.
Davydenko is quality, but I don't think he has enough to challenge the Federer.
Nikolay Davydenko also was in "Wimbledon".
Just kidding, but the lead actor Paul Bettany has the same look about him.
two swiss down and one to go.
can davydenko repeat what mauresmo and clijsters achieve?
I highly doubt it.
"Do we want to see great players struggle?"
LOL rilo. I guess you're viewing our Star Sports feed, and Alan Wilkins and Veejay Amritraj were talking about that.
Anyway, Federer now up 1-0, Davydenko to serve.
Yea I am watching that channel. Do you know if they cover almost all the matches for other slams? or do they just have a contract with AO?
two beautiful bh winner from Federer... now break point!
Somehow the noob somehow held his own serve I predict this is going to be a very easy match for Federer. I mean, very easy.
Star Sports has a definite contract for the AO. With the rest of the tournaments, though, it's a bit iffy. Last year they covered AO and Wimbledon, but the FO and US Opens weren't covered by ESPN (Star Sports's parent company, I think) so they didn't cover those either. Negotiations for Wimbledon coverage haven't concluded yet because they don't list Wimbledon 2006 in the list of tennis programs on their official website.
Ah. Exactly the sentiment during the Fed v. Haas match.
Look what happened! Oy vey!
It's like a mini-apocalypse! You skipped class, Fed said the four-letter word, Haas accused Courier of youknowwhat.
Davydenko is holding his own. I'm predicting Federer will step it up in the next game or so, though, to secure the break for the set. After all, one break is all he needs to get the set.
Well, what do you know, I was correct in my prediction. Davydenko immediately broke back though.
Federer broke Davydenko at love to get the set.
here's a gold sticker for you, noelle. good job!
"Federer serving at only 51%...that's 5 out of 10 serves"
Seriously? I did not know that.
Federer is suckin'
Harharhar. Anyway, Davydenko had a break point on Federer's serve, but it's now at deuce.
Federer bricked a few of his net points earlier in the set, I think.
No, really... he is a lot better than this.
I've seen better college players... yay flame war!
Federer is the one having trouble holding his own serve in the 2nd set. 15-30!
beautiful lob from Devy... 30-40! set point
and Fed lost his service twice in the 2nd 6:3 Davydenko - he's playing great, great movement - Fed needs to find his rhythm again!
You disappoint me.
Devy takes the 2nd set, breaking Fed twice... was it?
In the tradition of the board: should fed retire??????????
why doesn'T fed uses his slice BH more often, to change some pace - Davydenko really likes those ballbashing baseline rallys
1 all in the 2nd
Davydenko is running like a madman, don't know how long he can keep this up...
headless chicken comes to mind.
I hope Davydenko holds, really don't want him to injure himself or retire early.
Ok, Roger is struggeling - didn't expect this to be honest, Nalby and Baghdatis will be happy to see this 3:2* Davy
Dear Roger's Mojo,
Please come back.
We need you.
Dear Roger's legs,
OK 3:5 Roger is playing like in the 3rd and 4th set vs Haas
If he loses this set, do you think he can come back?
yep I think he can, if Roger wins this set, he wins in 4 if he loses it'll be a 5 setter for sure
great defense from Roger 2 BP's
I'm trying to remain optimistic too. Federer needs to raise his game right now.
That point was unreal.
and Fed breaks back 5:4*
That's my boy!
**think happy thoughts. think Fed v. Nadal Miami. think...***
We're tiny, we're toony, we're all a little loony...
phew 5 all
Davydenko has 80% first serve in and wins over 70%, that's a hell of a stat
5*:6 - hope Roger wins in the TB
Dear Roger's backhand,
phew 2 SP saved by ROger this is nerv wrecking
great bh passing shot, now win the TB Roger
Tell me about it. This is good stuff
Fed somehow survives 2 set points and evens the set at 5 all.
0-1 in TB.
Dear Federer's Forehand,
What's wrong with you?
noooo - Daydenko plays great 3 SP for him
2 saved 5:6* Davy to serve for the set
What the hell did you feed him last night?
Separate names with a comma.
