Quad-Level Tennis (replacing Tri-Level)

I just noticed this information posted on the section page regarding changing Tri-Level tennis to Quad-Level for the 2013 Championships.

Here's the first few paragraphs from the letter:

"For the past three years, our Section has held tri-level leagues, followed each January by Mid-Atlantic Tri-Level Sectional Championships. The winning men’s and women’s teams at the 3.5/4.0/4.5 levels advance to the BNP Paribas Open Tri-Level Championships.

There have been numerous requests for these leagues to also include players at the 3.0 level. As a result, BNP Paribas has announced that commencing with the 2013 Championships; they will no longer be holding tri-level championships, but holding quad-level championships, to include the 3.0 level.

Mid-Atlantic Section will therefore have these leagues in 2012, in order for our winning teams to be able to advance to the BNP Paribas Open Quad Level Championships in 2013. However, our Section will call these leagues Four Tier Tennis, or 4TT, and not use the name Quad-Level.

The levels will be 3.0/3.5/4.0/4.5. The rules will be the same as we’ve been using for tri-level (MAS Rule #13). However, since there is a high probability that there will be tied matches, the league winner will be determined by the number of individual matches won, rather than by the number of team matches won. It is possible that TennisLink will show a team in first place with the most team wins, and yet that team may not win the league. The winner will have the most individual match wins."
