Question about Early Start vs Year-end ratings and the "Benchmark"

My USTA team played in a playoff at the end of the season. I believe that normally results in a "Benchmark" rating regardless of whether or not your rating moves up or stays the same.

If you then play in the "Tri-level" league prior to the year-end ratings coming out, would you still be considered "benchmark" or would you now get the computer or dynamic rating?

Just a guess based on years of playing USTA team. Once you go to state or regionals you get the "benchmark" and will have it at the end of the year. All other leagues where the matches count to your rating just apply.

As long as you played in the playoffs for your adult/senior/super senior team you will be an end-of-the year benchmark player. Mixed and tri level wont affect your rating status (B or C) at the end of the year if you played sufficient adult matches. I am not sure all districts count tri level stuff in your ratings.

The whole "benchmark" designation really means little. Just means you played on a team in matches at a playoff, state, regional or national event. A player could have a record with 0 wins-100 loses and be a "benchmark" player.

Thanks for the feedback. Downside to being a benchmark is you cannot appeal your rating up..
