Question about matching two racquets...

I have two Babolat Pure Storm GT racquets. One I think is perfect and the other one feels heavier to me. They have the same grip, overgrip, and dampener. The only difference right now is the type of string. Both have a multifilament but the light feeling one has Wilson K-gut and the heavier one has Tecnifibre NRG2.

I put them on my kitchen scale and the light one is 340g and the heavy one is 345g.

Do you think that strings vary in weight by enough to make a difference?

Am I pretty much out of luck in regards to trying to get the heavier one to feel like the lighter one? (I know if it was the opposite, I'd just add some lead tape)

Thanks a lot for your help.

I had a similar issue with Wilson.

Did you check the balance? A 5 gram weight difference by itself isnt necessarily a big deal, but it might be more head heavy which is going to magnify the weight difference.

I had one like this, and unfortunately the best I could do was add MORE weight to the handle to at least balance it out.

But like you, I actually liked the lighter one, so I just sold the heavier one on ****. (with a picture of it on a scale so people know what they are getting)

I asked the string/weight question before. For those two strings it's unimaginable that you'd notice that much of a difference. If you went to gut (which is heavier) you may notice some difference but even then not enough that it should affect your play.

I was afraid that was going to be the answer. I checked the balance by balancing them both on the edge of the counter. The heavier one's balance point was about 4or 5mm closer to the head. I think that makes sense because it would make it more head-heavy.

I hesitate to sell it and buy another one because there's no guarantee the next one will be better...it could be worse.

I'm only a 4.3 level player but I can appreciate why the pros have their rackets perfectly tuned. It really does make a difference.

Thanks.

TW do a matching service. If you're buying a new racquet you could send your preferred racquet to TW so they can match a new one to it. I think the cost is around $20 per racquet.
