Question about TF Promix 17

Rookie
I'm thinking about trying this string in a hybrid setup, but it appears to be "multifilament poly" so I'm not sure if it would pair up better with a more traditional monofilament poly or a true MF such as x-1 biphase?

I normally string with a full poly at about 54 on a YT Prestige MP but am looking for a bit more control. Traditional strokes, moderate topspin, can generate good pace on my own.

Any suggestions?

I've never played it, but from what I could tell from researching it is that it's essentially a durable syngut. Soft like a syngut, moves like a synget, etc. I think you should pair it with a poly.

If you are looking for more control as compared to your current full poly, I don't think TF Promix will fit. I have strung it before and it is more like a multi than a poly. Quite elastic during stringing, but I had strung it more around my usual poly tension rather than my multi tension, and so I did not like it. That said, it did play more muted than other multi's.

It's a unique string for sure, but if you want more control, you may want to look at increasing tension to start, or incorporating a string like Head RIP Control or RIP Tour, which are good low-power yet soft strings.

Thanks...I have a tender elbow so I was a little hesitant about upping the tension for the full poly job but maybe i'll try it again. I figured if I could use 2 soft strings in a hybrid setup I could tolerate something in the 57 - 60lb tension range. I used to use full bed of x-1 biphase but was breaking that too fast

In that case, try the head RIP strings. They are arm friendly but also low power with great control. A very unique and comfy string.

TF Promix is a terrible string. Its really mushy in feel and gives an unpredictable response off the string bed. Spin production is also very poor. I have no idea what its tension maintenance is like as I cut it out after 5mins.

TF tried to marry the spin of a poly with the feel of a multi with this string, but actually ended up combining the worst aspects of both instead.
