Question about upgrading racquet

Hi all, I have a question about which racquet to get. I am at an intermediate level playing tennis but I am using the Head TiS2 performance racquet. I've been using the TiS2 all this summer. I just got that racquet 'cause I thought I wasn't going to be playing a lot and it was cheap at my local Sports Authority ($69). I got better during the summer and now I am hitting pretty well with that racquet. I hit the ball with a lot of spin and power at the same time and a lot to the baseline and deep mostly kept in court so the control is there.

I was thinking about upgrading to a better racquet and this weekend I demo the volkl powerbridge 8 and powerbridge 10. A friend of mine playing with volkl racquets and told me to try it. I tried them and didnt play that good with them. My serve was definitely better. I can still hit with a lot of spin but my power was gone. I wasn't hitting the ball as hard as I am used to with my TiS2. Plus, most of the time I hit it really hard, the ball would go out. Maybe it was the tension or strings which I don't even know what it was or something else, but I play awful with them. Now I don't know if I want to buy better racquet or just buy 2 more TiS2 which are now for $50 at Sports Authority.

I would like to know which racquet do you guys recommend (I will prefer Head since I usually play better with them) for someone like me. I hit with a lot of Spin and very hard. I love to hit the ball hard and would love to buy a racquet that would allow me to do that. I'll be playing a lot during this winter with some friends plus will play some tournaments next summer.

Any input on this highly appreciate it. Thanks all.

Or maybe I just need some more time with the pb8 and see if I get used hitting with spin and power 'cause on other reviews people say you can hit with a lot of power on the racquet. What you guys think.

demo the HEAD microgel Prestige. if you can't handle the weight, then try demoing the HEAD microgel radical. just my opinion.

if you're power disappears when playing with the Powerbridge 8 then you don't hit the ball hard at all. you might wanna try some tweeners like the Pure Drive, Microgel Extreme, RDS 003, and Aerogel 500 Tour

It's not that it disappears, it's just that I might not be able to control the power in the racquet, thats my thinking. Since when I try to hit with a lot of power, the ball just goes out of the court. Maybe I need to give it sometime, but I cannot afford to buy a $180 racquet and then think it might get better over time.

mellospace,

You got a fame that's kind of difficult to classify, being a sort of in between a power vs control frame you may find it difficult to upgrade because not many frames have a similar feel.

If you like Head frames and comfortable with an OS frame you can consider and I too really like my RDS003

Head MicroGEL Radical Oversize
Yonex RDS003

So you think I should be better with the Head MG Prestige Mid+? Why do you think so? I'm now leaning toward that racquet. Do you think it will be good for me who hit with a lot of spin and power? anyone else want to comment on this racquet?

I like the TiS2 frame but now I want to go to a smaller frame and see how I perform with more control thats why I want to go to a Mid+ frame. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi Mellospace

I asked the same question about taming the power of the PB8 in this thread:
http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=206902

If you hit with a lot of spin, a higher tension or a different string setup might help.

Hope this helps (a little),

rlau

Maybe but I think I'm just gonna try some head racquets like the MG Prestige Mid+. I'll see how I do. I seem to like and play better with head racquets that why I'm going to just continue playing with them.
