Question for Chris - Low Tensions

Chris, I know you like stringing your polys at low tensions. My question is do you think it is okay to use a soft poly at a low tension or should this only be done with more crisp polys?

Also, if I were to string a Wilson Blade 98S @ 40 lbs. could you recommend a string? Thanks.

I tend to go with stiffer polys in general and when strung low they all play pretty soft. If using a soft poly as a starting point I'd consider a pre-stretch or stringing very slowly otherwise it might drop too low after the first hit or two.

Tourna Poly Big Hitter Black 7 would be a solid starting point. Volkl Cyclone has a medium stiffness for a poly and is a go to for many of us here.

I am absolutely loving 40lbs with Solinco Tour Bite right now in my Six.One 95S. I'm going to try it next with Cyclone and also Luxilon Big Banger Rough 16.

I was using 15L. We currently do not have it in stock but are looking at bringing it in.

Thanks Chris!

Just to let you know, your blog changed my stringing philosophy and all my sticks are low strung. My wrist, elbow and shoulder thank you too!

Yes. Check out this thread with links to a couple of blogs I wrote early on in the thread. I used Cyclone for this test:

Thanks Chris. I may add that thread to my reading list...there are 108 pages!!! Can you point me to the right pages or group of pages where you summarize your conclusions?

Btw, really enjoy your reviews/posts. I've found your comments very helpful & reliable.
