Question on Federer JURA ad

Even though Federer’s resume is inflated a lot by weak era, I’d give him a spot in top 10, or maybe even top 7 Greatest Champions.

Not a GOAT material, of course, but he has used 100% of potential of low-IQ 2 shot tennis.

How can a player with higher tennis IQ than Nadal have just 1 Roland Garros title? Clay is the surface where you have to build the rally step by step, use angles, vary the pace and the spin, you also have to feel when is the exact moment to come to the net, or you will be punished for no-brain play. That’s why talentless players that depend on 2 shot tactics are least successful on clay.

The myth that Federer is the most talented/skilled player got old a long time ago, sorry, don’t buy the media propaganda.

The most successful and physically developed player of his kind? (e.g. Isner, Karlovic, Anderson, Cilic, Roddick and so on) Yes.

The highest IQ player? Not even close.

That has nothing to do with IQ lel.

Basically it's a prejudice reminiscent of sexist lolgic, wherein one sex is considered superior to the other because they do X better, ignoring that the other does Y better and overall they are equally useful.

Also, TIL Berasategui is smarter than Sampras :D :-D:love:

Just showing how "baseline bots have no skillz" cliche can work in both ways. (y)

Well duh, obviously anyone who seriously thinks Nadal or Djokovic aren't extremely talented is ridiculously deluded. Can't even imagine how that works in their minds, that such talentless hacks have won a multitude of titles including many over talent personified aka Federer. The opposite mindset is also amazingly stupid of course. In actuality, I do think Fed is slightly more talented on account of his better improvising abilities (not that the other two can't do that to great effect too), but that's not gonna help him in the historical race.

Maybe it used to be the case in 00’s, but nowadays I’d say Nadal is more flexible in terms of gameplan than Federer. The best examples as of late are probably their matches against Tsitsipas at WTF where Nadal won by implementing net rush, while Federer was glued to the baseline all match despite it was clear as day after the first set Tsitsipas outplays him. If I missed the point and you’re referring to trickshots and other kyrgiosities, then I guess the contest for the most talented player of all time is between Brown and Bahrami.

You live in an alternative world or something. Nadal won by cutting down UEs, Federer lost by making too many UEs, it's that simple. Nadal was always the better player and never faced a BP, just choked the first set tiebreak with what, 3 or 4 UEs. Federer was the better player in the first set but choked immensely, then his game turned into an errorfest in the second set. Playing like that, volleys weren't gonna work either.

Improvisation refers to just that, shots improvised by necessity - not showing off - when the player suddenly finds himself in an awkward position after being wrongfooted or following a net cord. Federer's front tweener against Schoorel, or better yet Kyrgios own tweener vs Nadal in 2014 Wimbledon is an example of the former because there was no time for him to do anything else at that moment; Radwanska's no-look volley against Flipkens showcases the latter. (Look up 'Radwanska 360 no scope' on youtube, loved it lol.)

Jura coffee machines are the best. We have one and I enjoy the perfect espresso it produces everyday. Makes perfect sense that Fed would endorse Jura.
Only the best .... for the best!!!!!!

Just tired of "Federer is the most talented player while his rivals are boring baseline bots" propaganda. They want a counterpunch? They’ll get it.

Hmm.... in the recent Rafa-Tsitsipas YEC match, Rafa was 28/33 at net which is far more aggressive than he's been in the past. But that was a very close three set match. In Fed's YEC match against Stef, it was a two set match and Fed's net stats were 23/31 in a shorter match. So I'm not sure where this analysis comes from.

I guess you'll have to "counterpunch" the entire tennis establishment, since Borg, Laver, Agassi, Edberg, Becker, Lendl, Mac and Connors have all gone on the record to say Fed is the most talented tennis player ever. I get why you're tired of it, it's been said by everyone since 2001, or thereabouts.

Oops! Forgot that Safin also has stated Fed's the most talented player ever: "'I think he is the most talented tennis player in history. Before it was impossible to play at this level until you're 37."

Why does Nadal look to his team for advice before each point if he's so brilliant? I do think he is an all time great and a nice person off the court. But the coaching and service rituals do not suggest great mental strength, either.
