Question on the Prince Phantom Pro 100P and weight variation

hi all - hoping to leverage the forum to figure out a weight differential in a couple of PPP100P’s I picked up recently. I bought one through TW when they were on sale a month or two ago and liked it, so picked up another gently used racquet on the Bay. The one i got through TW is strung up with Hyper G 16 (1.30) gauge and the used one i had strung up w/ Kirschbaum Max Power 17 (1.25).

i noticed that the TW purchased racquet with Hyper G was noticeably heavier feeling when swinging and ended up weighing them. It is also more head heavy and has a different balance point than the used racquet. The racquet with Hyper G came in at 336g and the used racquet came in at 322g, which seemed like a higher than normal variance.

my question is: can the weight differential be caused by the strings alone? or what could be causing this? My initial concern was that it was a fake but it looks pretty legit/identical. I removed the buttcap and there was no weight added or anything.

14 grams difference is too high to attribute solely to difference in string mass. A change of 2-3 grams is more common for different types of strings. Variance in manufacturing is about 2%. You could have one at the high end and one at the low end. If there are any batch/serial numbers, check to see if they are close. If not, they are probably from different production runs.

Check them unstrung and make sure no weight under bumper guard. Strings can vary weight up to 5g difference in my experience. For example my one is 309g unstrung which is 1g off 310g and came in at 323g strung in syn gut. If I used a poly string it adds between 3 to 5g which is close to the strung weight on TW.

Honestly think that's a 290 with that weight. Must've got the paint jobs and labels wrong. The 290s are about 306g strung. Adding OG and dampener brings it right about 314g.

My 305 is 318g strung, and I demoed two of them prior to buying and they were one gram off and three grams off that.

Thanks guys - worst case scenario is i add some tape in the hoop on the racquet i bought used but these racquets are both in stock form. Unfortunate that the QC seems to be lacking here. Lesson learned to always buy matched racquets from TW like i did last time around!
