As Murray has opted to withdraw, Djokovic will be seeded #1 and Federer now at #2.
The top players get an automatic bye into the 2nd round as we know.
The 1st round matches will be played Monday July 25 and part of Tuesday July 26.
The 2nd round matches will begin in the Night session of Tuesday July 26.
Looking at the history of Rogers Cup from 2014 and how the seeds/matches were scheduled, Federer at the time seeded #2 played the night session on the Tuesday for his 2nd round match, and then played the night session on the Thursday in his 3rd round match, and then another night session the day after on Friday in the QFs, followed by another night session on Saturday in the SF.
Djokovic at that time being world #1 played the day session on the Wednesday for his 2nd round match, followed by another day session for his 3rd round match.
Looking at the pattern, the #2 seed plays their 2nd round match on a Tuesday and the #1 seed plays their 2nd round match on the Wednesday.
And by the looks of it, Rogers Cup seems to be very pro-Federer by the fact that in 2014 when he was here, he received 4 straight night sessions!
I'm assuming by the trend of 2014 that this year Federer will be receiving night session matches again? The top 2 seedings remain the same as 2014 with Djokovic at #1 and Federer at #2.
So I'm going to make a guess that it will be Federer playing his 2nd round match in the night session of Tuesday July 26 and then if he wins, will play his 3rd round match again in the night session on Thursday July 28?
