How did gasquet win a match against peak Federer?
One could argue he never did. Yes he beat him at Monte Carlo in 2005, but that was always one of the worst tournaments for Roger, if not THE worst outright.

And it was an extremely close surprise win in the first meeting. A few weeks later Federer beat him on clay in Hamburg in 3 straight sets.

Gasquet recently beat Nadal and Federer is destroying him. Fedr the preeminent favourite.

Federer's forehand is ridiculous at times. So much weight and precision.

Fed is taking this long and easy. Looks like doesn't care. The shanks and errors are here and there. Which is not a worry because its still his match to lose, delpo is out, so as long he peaks in time for QF and SF, he's good.

nice volley from fed to hold.

gasquet has had some good points on the return, but not able to string them together to get to BP.

Y'all are underestimating berdych imo due to recency bias.
I'm not. Berdych is in some good form so far, delpo would've made Fed run vs berdych winning by game play and strategy, which means advantage in terms not losing too much energy before QF. But otherwise it is still a potential 5 setter opponent.

How far up does Gasquet rank on the list of wasted potential?

good stuff from gasquet, nice slider and then serve+fh on the next point.
15-30 to 40-30.

I would like to see a 6-0 or 6-1 third set just to see that he can step it up, and to have a nice feel to end it with.
