Don't think I'll ever wrap my head around Gasquets's fh technique - that grip...

You'll never wrap your head around a nuts and bolt semi-western – at worst leaning toward eastern – the most common grip on tour?

I’ll never understand why he decided to learn FH with almost continental grip. Even extreme western grip feels more natural.

yeah agree - that grip clearly makes it harder to take the ball early - esp with pace and spin. I play around w it now and then when coaching or playing for fun but it is very hard to consistently get the hit point in front

Gasquet can’t take the ball early from either side, so it doesn’t matter to him that much... but that FH grip can be a reason why his backhand is so much better

for me its a toss up between fed-safin and rafter-agassi from wimbledon 2000. the kind of shotmaking in that match is almost extinct now

I personally liked their 2001 semi encounter more.
