Racket drop for a flat fh

The main advice to hit a flat fh is not to drop the racket face so low.
But if i do not drop the racket face low enough, it is a disaster, no topspin at all, the ball is not to controll at all (i have western fh grip, i play on clay).
Any advice how to drop correctly the racket face for flat fh?

Thanks again

How flat we talking here?

What I see is when people start trying to hit flat they believe they need to be almost linear through the ball, but with flatter shots topspin is even more critical to get drop and keep it in unless you hitting a higher ball. I see the difference of flat vs topspin is more of the overall swing path and finish of the stroke. Hitting flat I try to make a little more forward contact and finish at or below my opposite shoulder. For topspin I have more of a loop of over the overall swing path, might get the RH a little lower on tackback, but finish above the opposite shoulder. I think when you watch pros you'll see slight variations but not as exaggerated as we might think - i.e. way below the ball for topspin and at ball height for flat.

I think DelPo and Murray are good examples since both are well-known to hit a flatter ball. Both still get the RH below the ball.
