Hi all,
I'm currently looking for a new racket. I'm 15 and compete in tournaments often. I currently use a blade 98 16x19 but find it a bit erratic and powerful. I like to serve and volley, come to the net a lot, and play aggressive deep shots with decent amounts of spin. I'm looking for a control oriented racket with pop though. My spec range is 11.3-12 oz. with a preference towards more headlight rackets. Swing weight isn't much of a concern as long as it is still stable.
Thank you all, Max

Hey, Max. I see a lot of high-level junior players hitting with the Yonex Ezone AI 98. Perhaps you might want to give that frame a try. What I also found as great player's sticks are the Pure Control Tour and the Graphene Prestige MP. If you can handle more weight, I suggest the Six One 95 and the RF 97 - most stable frames out there.

I grew up playing serve and volley tennis and I've always appreciated racquets that accommodate that style. The Wilson Six.One 95 has been a strong performer for S&V specialists pretty much forever - I played their 6.1 Classic for many years. When I went to work on a stronger baseline game though, I immediately found more control further back when I started using softer options that also had some heft and stability.

The Volkl C10 was a great "next racquet" for me a while back, but this frame is a little bit unique. I still love it, but I've also kept Volkl's Organix 10 325g in my bag for a couple of years and this frame has been fantastic for me. I'll point out that I really got to like it after a little tuning with lead tape - it was just a little unstable in its stock layout for my taste and I also leaded my handle to get a familiar degree of HL balance. Every time I compare my O10 to anything else, including recent generations of the Six.One 95, the Volkl seems to significantly outperform them, at least in my book.

TW may still be selling the lighter O10 295g for a fantastic price, but they also have the newer Super G 10 325g, which may be worth a look. I coach high school boys (and girls, too) and one local player with a very strong all-court game really loves the newer Head Prestige.

Although I'm not getting rid of my Volkls, I'm going to get a small package of Wilson gear for myself, including the new 2015 Blade 18x20. I sampled this racquet a couple weeks ago for an afternoon and had a really good time with it. Nice control and decent feel despite being strung with a full bed of poly - I typically stick with semi-soft syn. gut to protect my arm. This Blade doesn't have the degree of HL balance I usually like and I may eventually lead the handle to see what I get with that, but it was generally a nice ride, even at the net, and I'm ready to give something like this a try.

I've owned a couple different Yonex frames in my day and they were stone cold nasty for S&V action. If I tried something from their stable today, my first look might be the VCORE Tour G 310, but I might want to tune it just a bit with some lead tape. Its stock heft lists at only 11.6 oz., but its flex rating is 63 - maybe a potentially cozy hitter. The Pacific X Force Pro could also be one to look over. The Prince Classic Graphite 100 also has an attractive spec sheet, but I haven't gotten a chance to get out with one of those yet.

Yonex Ezone Ai98 with a bit more weight on the handle to make it even more head light. Very versatile racquet from base line and up at the net too.
