Racket sponsorship

Hello guys. Sorry if this thema is in a wrong place, I'm new to TT forum.
I'm a junior player 16 y/o, and I'm looking for a racket sponsorship. Currently I'm using Wilson frames and I have some discount on them. Also I do have sponsorship for clothing: BIDI BADU (new clothing brand from Germany) and POLY-STAR (also from Germany for strings)
If anybody know any more infos about racket sponsorships, please let me know.

Call the various racket companies, ask for the rep or the guy who is in charge of sponsorship, player development, or junior programs. Most companies will give 30% off retail for any junior who has a decent ranking or singles spot in his school. Usually up to 3 rackets, and probably requiring you to use their strings.

Thanks man, but I'd like to get a full sponsorship if possible. Cuz currently I do have a 20-30% discount. 2-3 rackets would be fine for me.
I heard that Tecnifibre is kinda easy to get, but they never replied to me, I have sent them a inquiry year ago, and asked them on FB why aren't they replying, they said like someone will reply sometime or maybe not. :/

You cannot get a full sponsorship, unless you're top 5 in your country in your age group. Just too many player's asking for sponsorship.
Here in the USA, if you're ranked out of the top 20 in the nation, the best you get is 30%. That means you're the best player in your area, which usually includes a population of well over 10 million people in your area, and you're one of the best juniors in your age group. Some of the juniors I know ranked in the top 20 in the nation of their age group get to use the racket's for a year, then have to turn them back in, but had to pay for them ahead of time.

I'm 8th in my country U16 (which has about 4 mil. people living). I like that method that you play with the rackets for a year and then give 'em back

Send your profile to Wilson and usually they will send you an offer given your ranking.

Of course, having a contact at Wilson is advantageous. Ask around in local clubs whether one of the clubs is somehow sponsored by Wilson, for the people/representatives there may be able to help you out.

Yeah, lots of sports companies offer that program.
You gotta pay for the first set, then get new sets every succeeding year, until they drop you or you move up to the next level of sponsorship.
8th in 16's in Germany should easily get you into a program like that, but you still have to pay for your first set of rackets. They figure your parent's are actually paying, so it's not a hardship case.

I too thought he was from Germany… Till I realized he is speaking of a 4 million population… Germany has around 20 times that.

I do have a contact with the local shop, which gives me only 30% off the price. You must be TOP 2 to get sponsored by them. They just do not care to support someone.

Ah, I see, that's a shame… In that case I fear there isn't much you can do… Perhaps you could look at smaller brands such as Pacific, they might be more forthcoming.

Also, I did contacted Pacific, also they are looking for top 2, they said maybe top 3 you need to be. So very strict rules are going on here.

Nah, I'm from Bosnia.. I know that is harder to be in the TOP8 in USA then in Bosnia..

Yeah, but the possibility of being a top 100 ATP pro is probably almost even with being an American. Less stock to choose from, but more success from a smaller sampling. Tell that to the racket companies.

Thanks bro I will. I tried to contact Prince but no one replies. The company is in deep sh** it seems. Maybe I can contact Dunlop  like no one is playing with their frames I think. But they dont have any mail adress unfortunatly.

Who else is there…. ProKennex maybe?

Where do you play in Bosnia? I recall Damir only having a racket sponsorship up until a few years ago.
I'm playing in Sarajevo. If you mean Damir Dzumhur, I know he had a racket sponsor by years, since he was a junior 16 years surely. He is playing since then with Wilson I think.

Why not Babolat? They drown US courts with their racquets, I don't think they're the most regarding ones. Else, if you're ever possibly able to play tour events, Tecnifibre has a partnership with the ATP so worth trying again I guess.

Huh first, thank for the reply. Secondly earlier I played with Babolat when I was a "small" junior before 4-5 years, and then had 50% off the price with the distributor. And now, that shop closed (before 1 year or so) so no one is selling Babolat here.
Do you know any Europe contact?"

Nope, but there's a rep on the forum who is in the US, so if you contact him he'll probably be able to give you someone you could contact. Let's try fishing... @Babolat Official?
EDIT: I suppose you have to try every company out there honestly, I guess you can't really cherry pick which ones you want or not.

What can you do for the company who gives you free racquets? You might want to write down a few things you can do for the company. (I would give you a list, but it really should come from you). They sponsor juniors to get exposure from their brand, and possibly sell more frames. I am sure a lot of companies get a lot of letters asking for free equipment. Try to be different and stand out. I also agree with Racketdesign, don't choose your equipment because it's free. Find a company you love, and then approach them. Good luck with your sponsorship and tennis future/goals!!

I appreciate it would be great to have the cost of rackets covered by a sponsorship but it makes much more sense to use rackets that work for you. Don't limit you chances of winning by using equipment that doesn't suit you just because it's free.

You are right I think. But the costs are really expensive to travel and everything, you know that probably. I would like to get a Wilson contract but it's really hard. I'm gonna try with Babolat, cause no one is playing with them in the country currently. Thanks

Hey JohnB, thanks for your reply.
I could give them the best possibly advertisement they could get. You can look at www.bidibadu.com it's a new brand, and I did got a sponsorship from them.
Can you give me that list in PM? I also have some good reasons haha.

lol, there isn't some arbitrary thing you can say that will get companies to sponsor you :) but using your social media (if you have a lot of tennis players that follow you), playing in tournaments/leagues/schools/ or anywhere that gets a lot of exposure. Being a member of a large tennis center, pro, coach, and any other position that gets you exposure to players. I don't know your life, but a quick example. I love Prince. I have supported their brand through purchasing quite a few frames/strings/clothes/grips/bags. I post High definition pics and write reviews on their products that I have spent my hard earned money on. I use my social media to post pics of racquets and spread the word about upcoming products in my leagues/tennis centers. I have done something for their company, and they can actually look at my social media, and see results (that people are seeing their brand). If you were Prince, and two players sent you a letter asking for a sponsorship. One is me, and the other is someone who just sent an email asking for free stuff. Who stands to get a sponsorship ?
Good luck with the sponsorship, and spend some time thinking of what you can do for the company that chooses to sponsor you. (Sponsorship is a business relationship, tennis racquet companies are in business to sell racquets) One last example, instead of saying, I did a sponsorship for this company, you could have said, I love these shirts I get from Bidubadu, they allow me to play tennis and not be soaked in sweat at the end of a match. They are high quality and look awesome!!! ;) check em out! Here's the link!! (I realize that is a very cheesy ad sounding thing, but it's 4:45 am here and I just woke up. But you get the point. Whatever company sponsors you, do your best to help them build their brand!!! Who knows, one day, you could start a business with your fellow teammates selling strings, and if you sponsored juniors, wouldn't you want them to tell people how great your product is?) Good luck!!

I get your point, many players, and coaches are following me on instagram for an example. I'm advertising them here a lot, like you said with these nice words and so on, and they have sent me a message that they actually got some customers reffering from me. Thanks for your kind words and goodluck to you and Prince (they are kinda down now :p jk)

Hi, I'm not Drazen. There is still a list from the past year, where are the players born in the year 1999, which ARE NOT ALLOWED to play this season, so when they remove them I'll be 8th or maybe better.
So if your prospective sponsor checked online to find you, what would your current ranking be?

This thread is priceless...........

if you are good enough the manufactures will find you. My kids all got on free lists by playing and being observed at tournaments, camps, travel teams...etc.

Most of the manufacturers have links on their sites for "CONTACT US" and most all have drop down menus or a way to select "sponsorship"........for example at Tecnifibre.com goto contact and in the form you can select why you are emailing them direct. You can attach your playing and results resume or where you will be playing so someone from the recruiting division can see or follow you and decide if they want to sponsor you.

Also your coach or tennis academy (if you train at one) should be connected and can help get you seen.

Thanks DUROC, will do that. Also I was a member of the best Academy here, which unfortunatly shut down, so here I am just with my coach and few friends. My coach had some contacts with Prince earlier, with the past managment, but now it's hard. But anyways thanks for the reply. I appreaciate it.

I've seen it where juniors wear logos of local companies, their club, or tennis shops. I don't know if it gets them any perks like free equipment, in fact most tennis shops and clubs will do discounts on stringing and frames.

Thanks Shah. I got in contact with people in Babolat, Tecnifibre, and Pro Kennex. I'll see what's the best offer. Those are the brand which is like the most after Wilson
