Racquets and heat

It's definitely not good for the racquet to sit in a hot car or whatever for extended periods of time. But with the modern frames (i.e. not wood) warping shouldn't be a huge issue. And yes, the strings are where you'll notice problems before the frame. If it sits in a car trunk for a whole summer, chances are the next time you bring it out, the strings will be pretty dead and need replaced.

Be aware, though, that when anything heats up, it will expand. And when it gets cold it will contract. That's just what things do. And the frequent expansion and contraction could make the frame feel less responsive quicker than if it sat inside all day. The worst thing for the frame would be to leave it in a trunk when the temperature has a large range from low to high. If the day starts at 40, gets up to 80 (much hotter in the trunk), and ends back at 40, that's some pretty good stress on the frame. Granted, temperatures don't generally vary that much during a day.

Strings will be the issue for sure. The heating will stretch them and when they cool they will lose a lot of tension. I have had tighter string jobs with syn gut pop while in a trunk once

yeah had it happened to me once. I went to a tourney after work, and after i left my bag in the car for 6 hours, my strings pop after the 3rd hit in all 3 racquets. Made me feel like a pro, but had to play with my team mate's racquet.

That was a good $75 lesson

wonder if thermo bags are much use in these situation? If they have that shiny layer inside? Is it okay then to leave in the car?

I've had both the wilson thermo and babolat thermo and in both cases my racquets felt really hot after leaving in the car, so IMO i think thermo doesn;t help that much

A slight bump, but im going to egyp on holiday and there is a tournament at my hotel. It will be about 38°c in the day, however it is very dry and really not humid. Will this still mess up the strings?

It can be a problem is it's too dry, but I don't think it should be an issue. Humidity would be the biggest threat to strings. Since it'll be fairly dry, this won't be a big deal.

Sure, those are some high temperatures. But I'm sure that the companies to heat tests for their frames. I know they do this with cars. And they heat them above any normal conditions the car might face (like probably 80c). Can't guarantee that the racquets are tested to those extremes, but I'm sure they test them above 38. 38 is hot, but not an oven.

The real problems that people will find have to do with leaving them in their cars during hot days. The inside of the car gets much hotter. That's when you have to worry more. I'm assuming that since it's at your hotel, the racquets won't need to be stored in a car, and can stay in a controlled environment until you go to use them.
