Racquets similar to Pure Drive Roddick?

What racquets (still available at T-W) play very similar to the 2012 Babolat Pure Drive Roddick?

ie: big power, solid weight (11.7-12.0 ounces), solid feel (swingweight 318-330), and heavy spin

Thanks.

BTW: The 'What Plays Like' feature says the following play like the Roddick GT version: Head YouTek IG Extreme Pro, Tecnifibre TFlash 315 SpeedFlex, Volkl Organix 8 (315)

Underneath the 2012 Roddick racquet it shows the following playing similar:
Babolat AeroStorm Tour GT, Babolat Pure Storm Tour GT, Dunlop AeroGel 4D 500*, Head YouTek Speed Pro, Tecnifibre TFight 320 VO2 Max*

* I've played with both of these and neither play like the 2012 Roddick so it makes me wonder if any of the other ones do.

silly question.....what's wrong with the Roddick?

I would say yes to the X8-315.

How about the Donnay Pro One and the Radical Pro?
Also the TFlex 315

You should also test the Prince Warrior 100. I used the PDR 2012, but I play now with the Warrior, with excellent results.

Yeah, nothing really plays like a PD... lottsa companies have tried and failed...

PD = PD, Prest = Prest, Prostaff = ... you get the drift...

First what don't u like about the PDR?

I honestly can not think of one that does. Maybe the Head Extreme leaded up, but the feel blohs compared to the 2012 BDR.

Organix 8 and T-Flash 315 felt NOTHING like a Roddick to me. Both are fairly headlight and have nothing approaching the plow and stability of the Roddick. The Head Extremes have felt very much like a Roddick to me, as does a Vantage (when they're back from their legal battle -- and please stop the pious nonsense that EVERY tennis purchase you make in your life has to be from TW) spec 11.4 ounce unstrung, 70 flex, 100 sq. in. I've hit with that particular spec Vantage 10 or 12 points HL, and it has much of what a Roddick has but is more whippable and maneuverable.

Hmm. So you don't want 2012 Pure Drive Roddick?

Well, basically it's the $195 price tag that's a bit of a turn off. I really hate paying that much for a racquet when I typically purchase them at least 3 at a time. I guess I'm looking for the same characteristics at a cheaper price...that will at least 'tide me over' until the prices of the 2012 Pure Drive Roddicks drop.

Dude you bought 3 Dunlop 200s at a time before and had never really used them at the weight you asked TW for..lol. who cares about price when you do that?

Anyway, used section.

And I got a longboard btw..insanely fun. No tricking out for me though, just cruising at high speed.

I will agree with A_instead that the Yonex xi 98 has the same power as the Babolat Roddick with more control. I've used 3 generations of the Roddick's and happy that I switched to the xi 98. I'm still hitting the same heavy ball and it's pretty stable swinging agaings a heavy ball too...just my 2 cents...

I knew I liked the 200 Tours...and if they came in lighter and more maneuverable (thanks to T-W), I knew I would like them even better. Also...I bought them when they were $99...so 2 for the price of 1 when you compare them to the Pure Drive Roddick 2012.

Got my Alien Workshop board ready to go as soon as my 5 year old gets his a week from Friday. Cannot wait!!!

Try Dunlop Aero gel 500 Tour...I had 3 of them couples weeks ago, very nice frame, solid, good power and better control than PDR.

The juice 100 with some lead. It plays VERY similarly but is a lot more comfortable.

agree that they are similar

disagree that the Juice is a lot more comfortable.

the Juice actually felt more stiff to me than the PD.

Measured them myself on RDC machine:

PD - 72
J100 - 65

I have no idea how PD felt softer to you. PD played like a 2x4 compared to the juice. Just no comparison comfort wise.

According to TW, they are both 72 on the same RDC machine.
Remember "feel" is very personal and subjective. My PD strung
with full Xcel is not harsh at all.

p.s. So why then are you selling your Juices?

That's what I do - buy high, sell low :)

I haven't played with a PDR, but from the specs alone, you may want to consider the Pro One. I made the switch from an APDC+. I have hit with the AG 500 Tour and I thought it was less solid feeling than something like an AG 4D 200 and definitely less powerful than my APDC+.

My top pick to match the PDR - the Easton Power Brigade S1...

If you don't like the price, shoot me a msg. The price can be much better.

TripleB thinks he'll buy more PDRs when the price drops. History suggests he'll have had it with the racquet and be demoing again long before that. Know thyself!!!

Actually decided not to worry about the new PDR. I believe I can get a feel close enough with the Pure Drive Roddick Cortex racquets I have. The grip is a bit large but with a thinner overgrip I think I can fix that as well.

Just got through demoing racquets similar in weight to my Pure Drive Roddick: 2012 Pure Drive Roddick, Tecnifibre TFight 320 VO2 Max, Wilson BLX Six-One 16x18, and Dunlop Bio 200G. The later three weren't any where close to the '12 PDR, my PDR, or my 200 Tours.

Decided to order demos similar to another racquet I've loved in the past (and similar in weight to my Pure Drive non-Roddick Cortex): BLX Blade 98, Prince O3 White, Head YouTek IG Extreme Midplus, Prince EXO 3 Rebel 98.

I'll be sure to inform you of how those workout for me :).

Just letting you know my experience,

Be very careful with the IG extreme midplus, that thing was so brutal on my arm when strung with a very soft multi. (RIP Control)

Hitting anything with it felt like a brick wall, YMMV!
