Radical vs YT IG Instinct

I'm thinking about changing from MG Radical Mp to YT IG Instict MP, but im not sure if i´ts actualylly a good alternative for me... The rason i'm considering this is because i'm starting to feel i'm no longer generating enough power with my Rads (loved them for years with lead at 3 & 9) and i read that the Instinct has more power (and even more stabilty). Many posts say that the Instinct is a great racquet but i was wondering if anyone here has made the transition from the Rads to the YT IG Instinct.

Thanks everyone...

I have the Youtek Radical MP and I don't feel it's low-powered at all. This may be a generalization, but I find that for the most part, your choice of string and tension will affect the power level of the racquet significantly. What's your current string setup for the Radical, and which version of the Radical are you using?

I'm currently playing with the Microgel Radical MP strung with Tecnifibre Black Code at 54... This used to work great for me but for almost a trae i've been struguling getting good depth with my shots... I GUESS I HAVE TO FACE THE FACT THAT I AM GETTING OLD!!!...

The YT IG Instinct will have more power than the MG Radical MP, but will have much less feel. If you can find a leftover regular YT Instinct, that would be a better choice.

If you are willing to switch brands, I highly recommend the Babolat Pure Storm Team GT. This racquet has a great combination of power, control, and feel. I have played with Heads almost my whole tennis life (currently using Microgel Instinct) but will switch to the Babolat Pure Storm Team GT in the near future.

If you decide to keep the MG Radical MP, I would switch from the full poly string job to get more power. Perhaps a 17 gauge multifilament string would be a better choice.

I would agree to move away from a full bed of poly with such a dense string pattern if you're having power issues. I would try a different string setup like a hybrid poly/syngut or like etd said, full multi. Another cheap alternative is lead tape (tape at 12 o'clock) should give more power. I tend to try different strings/lead tape configuration before switching racquets.

I will definately give it a try with a multi setup since i still love my Rads... If it doesn't work, then i'll switch to a diferent racquet (doesn't have to Head although i really like em)...Any suggestion on string tensión?... I think i'll try NRG2 ( Tecnifibre strings are the best imo)

I own both sticks with the IG Instinct first and the YT Rad MP second. They are totally different racquets. The Rad has a lot more control and feels more solid. The IG Instinct has a bit more power and spin but not nearly as much control. Stability is about the same. They both clock in at 11oz so you'll need to add led regardless. The Instinct also feels very string sensitive and the tension range tops out at 57 lbs so if you like to string high then that may throw you off. The Radical is definitely more comfortable despite the more solid feel. The Instinct feels trampoline-ish which I didn't like at all. I would either launch balls past the baseline or put them into the net. I have a lot more leeway to swing through with the Radical. Also, I would feel soreness in my shoulder with the Instinct after a session but it would never last more than a day. I've never gotten soreness from my Radical.

Like others have said, try out a nice multi at around 55M/52C and you'll be surprised at how much power you can get. I can basically get the power from the Instinct packed into the control and solid feel of the Radical. If you are looking for a racquet change, wait for the new IG Rad Pro and the IG prestige MP coming in Jan and make a choice then. I think the new IG Rad Pro will be what you're ultimately looking for as it seems like a good cross between the current YT Rad and the IG Instinct.
