Rafa: 57-30...Roger: 33-45 (Sorry Fed lovers)

Rafael Nadal's record against the THREE best players of his era...57-30 (65.6%)

(Players are Fed, Novak and Murray)

Roger Federer's record against the THREE best players of his era...35-45 (43.8%) (Players are Rafa, Novak and Murray)

Who else are you going to put in there? Roddick? Rafa owned him as well. Del Potro? Rafa has owned him.

Stop making the same arguments over and over again Rafa haters. Come up with a Plausible explanation as to why Roger is a combined 35-45 against Rafa, Murray and Joko!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why is it that Rafa has a 3% higher winning percentage lifetime? Why is it that Rafa has won more Masters' events and he's nearly 5 years younger!!!!! Why has Rafa been part of 3 Davis Cup championships and Roger none? Why is it that Rafa won a Gold Medal and Roger has not? Why is it that Rafa has won more than two times the matches head to head vs. Fed???????

ASK JOKO who's the best he's ever played!!!! ASK Murray!!! And why does Johnny Mac think Rafa has been a little better up to age 27 than Roger has??

technically, the 3 best players in Federer's era are Roddick, Hewitt and Safin. Maybe Rafa as well, because he was such an early achiever.

exactly. you cannot expect federer to dminate rivals 5 and 6 years younger. also against nivak and andy he has a good record. it is nadal that is skewing the record

Wow! Kudos on this being one of the few times you have actually lived up to your moniker. :)

erm, with regards to andy murray, he has at best a neutral record. not exactly good. but in general i agree with you that its not really fair to consider federer in the same era as djokovic and murray.

you do realize murray djokovic and nadal are not part of Fed's era. They are 5-6 years younger. Fed's contemporaries are Roddick, Safin, Hewitt, Nalbandian etc. who he has throughly dominated.

And plus none of this matters anyway. The resume is all the matters! and Fed leads that by quite a margin.

now off you go to make another account N.S.K

Ha...if they are in the same era (as you purport), then I would have to say Fed is the superior player: more slams, more consistemcy, and many more weeks at #1. You may want to rethink your argument fanboy

To be honest, that makes Nadal's record even better because there is no way IMO that on their best possible day, any of these three could hold a candle to Djokovic, Murray and Federer.

Nadal has definitely faced much tougher opposition during his peak years.

the slam h2h against murray is strongly in fed's favor

i agree. i think the most impressive part about Nadal is that his dominance (for lack of better word) spans 2 eras of great players. because he started so young, he faced Federer in his prime, and now he has to face his own generation's greats too.

its similar to another player i greatly admire -- pete sampras. pete had to face up to Becker, Edberg etc, while withstanding his own generation's greats like Agassi and Courier.

Sorry OP but to be fair take a age span and apply to both players. Then take the top 3 players for that span (which means the top 3 over the entire span not just for 1 or 2 years) and then you will have a fair comparison.

LMAO you people who consider Murray "great" are freaking bandwagon clowns.

The guy just got his but spanked by STAN WAWRINKA.
He only has 2 slams and has a horrible slam finals record.
He has never even come close to dominating the tour for any length of time and when looking at his overall records they are just mediocre at best.
This is the same guy a few years ago everyone considered a mental midget and fairly consistently melted down on court and acted like a big baby (he still does this from time to time even as recently as the other day).

well, going by your standard here, then federer's generation really has no great player. it goes both ways you know?

It's not Roger's era though is it? Very different story if he was now 27 and not 32.

Roddick, Nadal, Nalbandian, Hewitt, Haas, Blake...

Those are from Rogers era. And this talk about the game being so unstoppable now is ridiculous. Roddick beat Nadal twice, so it isn't like he can't beat him, and he also has a winning H2H against Novak. Furthermore, on the biggest stage, Roddick took out Murray at SW19.

So please stop making stuff up.

All you are doing is pretending Djokovic and Nadal are the only people Federer had to contend Slams with, as is the case the other way around. Unfortunately for you Federer came about a bit earlier and his record against contemporaries is considerably better.

Nadal has winning head-to-heads against Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Hewitt, Roddick, Ferrer, Berdych, Tsonga, del Potro, Soderling, Nalbandian, Safin, Haas, Youzhny, Blake. Anyone else to mention?

the problem is that courier dissapeared after 93 or so and agassi was not always there to face sampras. federer or djokovic were always there to face nadal

Save your breath.
4more GS.
200weeks more of no.1
6WTF titles
5YE no.1

After that let's talk about it.

Fed is 25-24 against Murray and Joko. Rafa is 36-20 . Chew on that.
federer is 6 years older than them. i am sure had he beed their age the record would be in his favor also. come on he still edges them and he is 6 years older. age matters a lot.

Fed did not play anybody as good as Novak in his first 4 years of dominance-2004-2007. Nobody. Actually, no one was as good as Murray either.

agassi in their USO 2004 encounter was as good as novak.

but who cares anyway? federer leads novak it is not like novak was a threat to him or something.

nadal did not play anybody as good as 2011 djokovic in 2010. it works both ways.

The "Nadal is Federer's main rival" is all rubbish. This so called Fedal has only produced three top quality matches: Wimby 07, Wimby 08 and AO 09. This is no true equity when one is 5 years older than the other, because their primes don't coincide. When Federer was almost unbeatable at USO and AO, Nadal was being demolished by guys like Golzales. And when Nadal came into his own and played better on Hard, Federer was the one who was getting hammered by relatively weak players, with the exception that post-prime Federer seems to be better than pre-prime Nadal on HC.

Nadal - Djokovic is a true and legit rivalry. Federer - Hewitt, Safin, Roddick, Blake is another. It's not Federer's fault that he was born in '81.
