He has done this before. AO 2009 he stayed with the Breathe Cage 2, A0 2014 he stayed with the CB 4.3. I'm sure Nike will iron out the kinks in his shoes and he'll be in the Vapor Cages soon.

Rafa did switched back to the “cage 3” but he never actually played with either cage 3 or vapor cage 4. He’s been having specific shoes which has a court ballistec 4.3 outsole and a specific upper with thick tongue since lunar ballistec days. Nike just make the color and design of the upper look like the recent retail shoes. That’s it.

I hope they fix the issues he’s having and puts them in the retail model i.e. thick detached tongue, more rubber buildup around the inside, traction pattern.
There's no issue with the retail model. Nadal just doesn't want to change shoes.

Do you mean there’s no issues like it’s a perfect shoe? Or that there is no defect? I have issues with the shoe in terms of comfort, foam, though Nadal seems to have an issue with tongues.

Nike still doesn't get tired of Fed's shoe demands, so why get tired of the only tennis superstar they have left? Wouldn't make sense to not cater to his needs imo, but obviously you have some issues against Rafa, so I'll just leave you as you are lol
No such thing as a perfect shoe. Not sure where you're getting that from my statement when I say Nadal does not wear a retail shoe. Every shoe isn't going to be well received by everyone.
The point is that Nadal isn't wearing the retail Vapor Cage just like he's never worn the retail Zoom Cage 3 and so on and so forth. At some point early in his pro career, he started out in a retail shoe, but based on his results and potential Nike made an investment decision and worked with him and his team on customizing his shoes. Going forward from that point, he's always worn custom versions of the retail shoe line he's promoted.
And if you have issues with the retail shoe....then find another shoe.

Personally just go back to the original air max cage or air court ballistics and we are done, don’t need to update or change anything. Except add an outsole warranty
