He might have lost his Wimbledon crown and his world No1 ranking, but Rafael Nadal seems to have found a way to cheer himself up.
The Spanish tennis pro is licking his wounds in Ibiza and Wimbledon appeared to be the last thing on his mind as he relaxed with friends on a luxury yacht.
The 25-year-old showed off his athletic figure in black shorts as he soaked up the sun and dived off the yacht into the Mediterranean sea.

Luxury accommodation: Tennis pro Nadal might have been defeated at Wimbledon but he decided to pick himself up and enjoy a vacation on board a yacht in Ibiza

And in-between jumping in and out of the water, the Majorca-born star kept up his energy levels by snacking on a banana.
Nadal’s holiday comes after he lost is world No1 ranking to Novac Djokvic on Centre Court in their four set final at Wimbledon.
But his defeat might have had something to do with a hairline fracture in his left foot, that The Times reported.
He was left with the injury while competing against Juan Marin del Potro in the fourth round and may not play for six more weeks, according to reports.

Phwoar! Nadal showed off his athletic figure as he dived in and out of the Mediterranean Sea in Ibiza

Splashing about: Nadal dives into the ocean as his friends sits on the yacht and watches to pick up tips

But Nadal accepted his defeat graciously and can still be proud of being the world’s second best in ranking terms.
He said: ‘I lost because I am playing against the best player of the moment, the best player of the world tomorrow, and I am the second.’
But with his defeat in the past, Nadal jet off to Ibiza, the island of which he has always been a big fan.
He has been visiting the island for years and In the summer of 2009 he hired construction workers to build him a luxurious holiday home on Ibiza’s sought-after south-west corner.
The property on the Baleric island was estimated to cost him a whopping £6.5 million and is said to be an eco-villa that is solar powered
And while on the party island, Nadal might bump into fellow celebrity holiday-makers such as Sarah Harding, who is also currently in Ibiza.
While newly-weds Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch also jet to the Spanish island on Sunday to celebrate their honeymoon there.

When will people stop reporting about Nadal's supposed fracture?

It's BS story made up by a british tabloid and was denied by Nadal's camp.

Don't bother Nam, these [bleep] will keep making up all kind of stories to sell papers while Rafa is living the life.

People believe whatever the heck they wanna believe, because these photos are photoshopped by the tabloids. Rafa is extraordinarily humble in his living standards and lives the very humble life and is probably really at home helping his mom make traditional vegetable Majorcan Tumbet.

What is he supposed to do?? Should he go sit in a dark room and sulk and not come out for 2 weeks?

The Times is not a tabloid and Neil Harman, the author of the original article apologized for the mistake. The paper that the article in this thread is from is a tabloid and I am not surprised that they are reporting incorrect details.

Oh come on Rafa... I thought you were gonna spend your vacation time fishing, cooking, thinking about life with Uncle Toni in a warm campfire and spending some time with family and friends back at Majorca.

Where is the humble guy that we all knew and speak about? :(

Nadal is accepted his fate. What else is there to do when you've run out of solutions? I think he's given up basically..

Anyway, 10 slams and $40 mil in prize money is nothing to be sneezed at.

Time for him to enjoy life..no?

I'm sorry, but this is dumb thread.

I mean, it's interesting to see Rafa enjoying his vacation, but topic of this thread is just dumb. What do you mean "despite Wimbledon loss"? Nobody died dude. Reaching Wimbledon final is fantastic result. Rafa won over 5 million $ only this year. He's living the life.

"Despite Wimbledon loss" lol omfg...

Because he's partying he's given up  ?

And look, even if he has "given up", he can't go through the rest of his career(3 more years probably)being pissed that he can't beat Djokovic.

In fact, the only way to even approach the djokovic issue is having a positive attitude about it. One of Nadal's biggest problems these days is that he is losing his inner calm on court, not just against Djokovic. In general he seems more nervous on court, it's like he's becoming a grumpy old guy :)

Plus, when people think that Nadal WILL or SHOULD rise to Novak's challenge they automatically assume that Nadal has the energy or willpower to do what people say he can't, because he's proven them wrong in the past.

Sure, he's proven that he can win on clay consistently, that he can win on grass(WB), that he can take win a HC slam, that he can beat flat hitters he had trouble with(blake, berdych, soderling), that he can win USO and his career slam and so on.

At a certain point there are certain things that will be out of your reach. It's human. For Fed it was Nadal on clay. It remains to be seen if for Nadal it will be Djokovic in the years to come as well. That's certainly the case for 2011.

Look, I've re-watched the Nadal-Djoko Rome and Wimb match again.

It seems with each match, Djoko is getting farther away. The Serb is playing more freely and Nadal is playing worse, getting tight etc.

The only thing Nadal can do to beat Djoko -

1) Hit a flatter forehand
2) Improve his backhand
3) Develop Fed/Murray like variety.

All of 1,2 and 3 are hard for someone who's at a late stage in his career.

Other than this the only thing for Nadal to do is wait for Djoko's level to drop and hope that Nadal's doesn't.

Which is basically what he said at Wimbledon and even at Rome after both losses. Because I think Nadal knows there is not much in his game to hurt Djoker.

Which is why he is relaxing and partying :) I mean the guy has 10 slams and $40 mill in the bank. Wouldn't you do the same? *j/k*

Who is that in the green trunks? It really looks like Roger, but I'm sure he's got a bit more of a tummy than the guy in the photo (and it's not very likely to be him, too).

Well I am jealous of Nadal's swag! This will be another reason to "hate" Nadal. I mean he already has the muscles and money.

Wait, I heard he was supposed to be crouched in a corner in the hovel that serves as the family compound, with his lady kin folk all shucking for seeds to be shipped to Lithuanian peasants this week? His PR people may have mixed up their story-release dates. Those pics of him enjoying himself aboard his yacht are most definitely recycled, from an earlier date.

That's interesting what you said. It conjured up the thought in me that if only Rafa would just swagger some more, I would like him a whole lot more. What seems now to be his phoniness I might respect finally if he ever copped to being firstly a scrappy opportunist. But he will never do that because his game is highly sophisticated, requires absolute precision on multiple planes. However, he brought the "correct" game at a suitable moment in the tour's evolution, and since this is a tennis forum, I applaud him for the life which he has created, and wish him glory ever more.
