Rafa untimely cheater manuvers

Pissed me off to see him take an extended bathroom break ...then sits down and drinks leisurely like the break just started..... making Fed boil over ...wins that set....something happened....remember at that level it might not take much to throw your opponent's timing and focus off enough to start the process of self doubt.....So Fed crashed and burned in that set..got himself together to close out the match.....and Nadal takes a prolonged bandage removal maneuver and casually takes time to fix his sock to perfection....I'm calling B.S. as to Rafa the good sportsman and take huge delight in his defeat....Sweet as honey watching him have to choke out how he lost during the presser....Ha the eff Ha!!!

Nice meltdown. It's already been 36 hours bruh and you still melting.

Lol exactly. As I've said before. Maybe he had to pee!!

You forgot coaching. The mob in his box kept the pantomime going after the first set.
what was behind The 6-1 second set is not clear. What's clear is Fed is no Kyrgios, he doesnt get rattled or spin out of control because of antiques on the other side.
The bully lost, and that's what matters.

No good player would be rattled by someone taking a whizz after a set.

Ironically that always happens with Rafa in the very same scenarios at the most convenient of the times. Might be a huge coincidence.

As if there's anything wrong with taking 2 mins to go to the bathroom, think and collect your thoughts in a Wimby semifinal. Some of yall need to grow up :D

There is no mystery whatsoever what happened in second set. Federer did what Djokovic sometimes does in tight matches - once he gains the lead by winning 1st set, and drops a bit in 2nd set (it is natural and he does not fight it), he let 2nd set go by NOT fighting for it, by NOT playing his best game for the match. Then in 3rd steps on it and breaks the opponent. 4th set is only confirmation of the obvious, usually.

It prevents the opponent from getting into the rhythm of play, by creating illusion in 2nd he is doing fine. Re-watch the start of the 3rd set. Nadal is completely off when Federer brings his maximum in.

That can be playing with fire, but if he did that, it worked this time.

I will say this, maybe Rafa does it for himself, he needs the extra time to gather thoughts, change his mindset, pump himself up, or what have you. Maybe it has nothing to do with messing with your opponent or trying to get in their head.

I am very OCD, and when I arrange things a certain way my wife gets annoyed. Even though I know it annoys her, I don't do it to annoy her, I do it because I need to do it. The annoying the wife is just a perk.:p

This is obvious imo. Remembering how he talked about being in the bathroom during the 2011 USO final thinking he can't win, etc. Nothing wrong with gathering your thoughts during a huge match and trying to figure out what you can do instead of sitting there on court not able to think straight. Has nothing to do with trying to "bother" Federer, people are so silly.

Agree with you OP. Although I've gained respect for Nadal recently, these are the things why I'll never be his fan.

The Nadal. Vintage and classic.

Honestly, yall are stuffy af. Just admit the topspin drove you crazy. At least I can admit I don't like Novak bc I don't like Novak. "He took 2 minutes AFTER a set and went to the bathroom" :D seriously.

The sanest Nadal fans can only say "sure, he bends the rules. But, then the Ump should call him out on it." The rest are varying levels of too far gone to reach. (helpful hint, those are the ones that haven't posted in the past 48 hours)

Why do they disappear like that? I mean if Fed loses tomorrow I won't go running. I thought we were all here because we are tennis fans that like to talk tennis... during the biggest match of the year.

Look, I don't even mind him doing it, pros are big boys, they can handle it. What bothers me is ATP letting him get away with it and also pretending he isn't doing it and then me not having the right to criticize him for it.

Fine, let him do it, but then don't complain if people don't like it and I'm not his fan. It's like those free speech defenders. They say anything to you, then they cry when someone criticizes their ideas.

Kids are starving all over the world, and homeless people filling the streets and people up in arms on a tennis forum about someone peeing after a tiebreak set. I swear!

It's not a coincidence but it isn't against the rules, so even though I don't like it, I don't have as much of problem with it as you guys seem to.

What would bother me is stuff like the extended shoe incident before Federer's serve in the 4th. But it wasn't that big of a deal. A medical timeout would have been worse, in my opinion

You are so naive. Rafa being this angel schoolboy is just media marketing. Federer is just better person, that's a fact. But due to arrogance of us Fed fans, you will never admit it. Because while Federer is a great human, I admit some of us his fans are terrible, we don't deserve him.

But, just because a lot of Fed fans we are bad, doesn't mean Rafa is a good person. You are just projecting. You think if Rafa's fans are good people, that this means Rafa is also great. You also think if Fed's fans are bad people that makes Fed bad. Doesn't work this way.

Under pressure on the court when you can't control it and when everything is on the line, there is when you see true nature of a person.

It's not about one isolated bathroom break, that would be ok, it's tons of other rules and doing it often and they let him get away with it.

Also, your logic, Hitler killed millions, so it's fine if I steal 20 $ from you is weird too. Of course it's not that bad, but what bothers me is you trying to make him like he is better person than Federer, that's the problem. When someone steals 20$ at least then be fair and admit Federer hasn't done that. So, yeah relative to Federer, it's bad, relative to what others are doing, it's fine.

Lol actually I don't think the way you think I do bro, sorry. I think they are both amazing people and above things like trying to disrupt each others rhythm. Nadal and Federer are 2 different people, that's all there is to it. There is NOTHING wrong with him taking the ALLOTED time to clear his head for 2 minutes in the bathroom in such a big match. You'd think Fed was in a chinese water torture tank while Rafa was in the bathroom instead of getting to sit down and think about what he needed to do also. Yall are ridiculous.

Federer said he struggled in the second set because of the way the sun was moving across the court, he said it impaired his vision and he was mistiming the ball. He made a couple of errors as a result of that and got broken, remember, he was wasn't broken in his first service game, it was his second. He also mentioned from one side of the court there was extra wind that Rafa adjusted to better than he did. After the bathroom break, Federer was actually in Nadal's first service game and had his chances, Nadal just held him off, so I doubt Rafa going to the bathroom caused him to lose that set.

Stop with the excuses. I help tons of people too and do a lot of charity, that doesn't make me a good person. When the chips are down, I'm still weak and I will probably do some bad things. It's under pressure when it shows what you are. Yeah, when things are ok in Rafa's perfect life, he is fine, like me, which is 99,99% of the time. But if we are alone in the forrest starving me and Rafa will probably stab you in the back. You and Fed will probably won't do that, that's the difference.

Yeah, Rafa is great, but I wouldn't want him in the trenches if there is war with me.

That's not the point, it's not about this moment, it's Rafa often breaking the rules. What's even worse is his fans denying it, just because us Fed fans are arrogant and annyoing.

I'm a bit OCD about habits, but I'm not slow. ;)

For instance, I work about 10 minutes from my house, and so does my wife. We work at the same place. She gets up early, has coffee, gives herself time to wake up. I set my alarm for exactly 50 minutes before I'm due and do everything like Mission Impossible. ;)

There you go again, being all reasonable. ;)

I agree.

Also, Rafa sweats as much as any human I've ever seen. Contrary to what most people think, drinking a lot of liquid to hydrate doesn't stop the kidneys from doing their thing. I can go hours without peeing if I hardly drink any water, but just one 16 ounce bottle of water and I'm just about peeing my pants in an hour or two. When ya gotta go, ya gotta go!

Hitman, how confident are you that Novak is going to win tomorrow? I'm picking him, but I also think it could be closer than most people are saying. If I were rooting hard for him, I'd be nervous tonight!!!

Look here trolls, the blister on his foot HAD to be looked at in the previous game before Fed served for the match, thus the shoelaces HAD to be redone up tightly whilst in his return position on court. End of.

He was abysmal in that 2nd set, but as you said, until the 2nd break, he wasn't shaking every shot. If it was a surreptitious tank, it wasn't evident until the last 2 games. He just played really poorly the first 5 games there. And I don't think the bathroom break affected him because he had break points.

 how on earth do you know this? I am someone who believes that all humans are selfish. You might as well be stabbed by the other two gentlemen too.
I don't, but if he is willing to do that in public and just for a tennis match, I'm afraid what he might do. I'm using the evidence from tennis, that's all we have. But this is generally the case, always when I saw people do small stuff, it always lead to big stuff.
