This from 2021?

Why nike still selling this shoes, if rafa hate it? Why just make new vapor cage 5? Its strange they selling shoes which is even not close to rafa shoes. Nike dont give ... about tennis?

The cage 4 sells really well even if Rafa doesn’t actually use it his name definitely sells that’s why all of the latest color ways except the Wimbledon one have his logo on it. Also it’s not good for miles bottom line to make another durable shoe they want people to buy more shoes not ones that actually last. And it’s not stablility v speed anymore, most modern speed shoes tend to be extremely stable so players don’t really care and if they do they have a few other brands to choose from.

I'm going to report this thread as abusive content.
The reminder of a tremendous shoe (even if the retail Cage 3 was closest) that Nike will never make feels like abuse.

Something I just noticed about Rafa's shoe. The upper in forefoot of Rafa's Cage has a much thinner layer of rubber compared to the retail model, pictured below. I guess it makes sense as it would reduce weight, and make the toebox more flexible.

I wonder if his shoes share any architecture with the Kobe 6.

They look really similar to my naked eye. I even thought the Kobe's originally had the "cage rubber" but realized it was just a snake skin design on the Kobe.
Regardless, the tongue, heel counter, and general shape look pretty similar.

The zoom cage 3 shoes are very similar to the Cage 3 that were on sale years ago, except in some points (e.g. the sole); it is clear that Nadal continues to prefer these to the Cage 4, even if they have been out of production for a few years.
If they put them back on sale they would sell out...
I believe that one of the reasons why they were "rejected" by Nadal is the lack of an upper tongue and the lacing partially attached to the upper.
