If you look carefully at the China Final you will see Rafa's game was at the right level to beat Djokovic.
Rafa had 0-30 on Djokovic's serve twice, and Djokovic broke Rafa after Rafa was up 40-0, so situations like that showed that Rafa's problem was a lack of confidence.
His confidence has since been restored and he will cash-in next time he's 0-30 on Djokovic's serve.
Ready to bury the pretendjokovic like a funeral parlor baby!
I can't resist. Brilliant and might just be possible. Kudos TC!

I thought he was referring to you. There is another Johnny M though, isn't there? I think you used to point out in your signature that you were different posters.

LOL stop wasting your time on me, i know i'm the best poster but i'm really just one of you....

If you were a regular member of this forum you'd know i requested to have my username changed to happy-for-that, but was told that i can only have that name if my current account is banned, so i asked to have my tennis_commentator account banned so i could then become happy-for-that.

Then after a few weeks i decided tennis_commentator is a better name, so i asked to have happy-for-that banned.

Very simple. But this is the internet, and i know i'm interacting with all types....so confusion will ensue....

Its a high complement in some ways and a great mystery as to who TC, etc. may be. A unique individual or a tried and true Tennis Talk poster with an alter ego? I think alter ego. Joking of course about you JM, but if it is you; you are the master!
Ha, that would be awesome but I am not that good!:)

Well. Your enthusiasm reminds of a good friend of mines. I'll let him know of your views and he may be cheered on. Disappointed you are not a super Rafa troll. I hope your are right about Nadal. It would be great for the game if he even got back to beating everyone but Nole.

ROTFL!

Yea, you were speaking for yourself! :D
What, am I not allowed to refer to myself in the second person? People do that all the time. Haven't you ever told yourself in an effort to gee yourself up, "come on! you can do this!" or something similar? That's what I was doing there. I was not speaking for anyone but myself. So, spare me.

Tomorrow's match against Stan will tell us what we really want to know. Can he handle consistent depth from an opponent, especially to his FH side? Both Karlovic and Raonic did not test Rafa enough in baseline rallies. Sure, Rafa hit some brilliant shots but the rallies were short. And the few times Raonic actually hit with depth, the reply from Rafa was short. FH was generally good in this match, however there were some BH shanks, a few off simple returns. But there has definitely been improvement. Rafa is playing the big points a bit better as well.

So how was the net play? Is this evidence of new strategy?
Really nothing too spectacular about any one part of his game, and nothing close to some new strategy.
Just more confident off the ground with more consistent depth. Only gave up 9 aces, while Milos won just 5 second serve points.
Also, Rafa faced only 1 BP.

Rafa knows how to deal with Servebots! Surprised Raonic could not get more chances at a break.

Let's hope Djokovic shows up, because you know his sock are mighty crappy right now.
