regarding Laver Cup Berlin 2024: “I’m really disappointed to share that I won’t be able to compete at the Laver Cup in Berlin next week. This is a team competition and to really support Team Europe, I need to do what’s best for them and at this moment there are other players who can help the team deliver the win. I have so many great, emotional memories from playing Laver Cup and I was really looking forward to being with my teammates and with Bjorn in his final year as Captain. I wish Team Europe the very best of luck and will be cheering them on from afar.”

If you are a Rafa fan, this is an excellent sign

His priorities should be to get healthy and have another go on clay next year. Not waste time and energy, and risk injury playing Fed's exho

I agree that it seems to indicate he is not finished and still trying to fine tune his body to play on. However I would also not be surprised if he retired very soon. Not really sure what to expect but this would seem to make a 2025 run more likely. He could have also gotten injured again and be completely finished.

He will retire after 2025 RG

Possibly after the tournament, I don't think he is aiming Lavers circus next year.

His priorioty right now is probably the 6 Kings Slam.

Anyone with a brain should be able to figure out he wants to play RG25, 20 years after winning his first.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but...bamos

Yes ... He would have announced retirement months ago if he did not have the 20 year milestone on his mind.

I guess it will be good to see Nadal next year at the RG....even I never thought I would be saying this.

I was always shocked that he signed up for it so early even when he was barely able to play any matches and there was speculation that he wouldn't even make it past RG or the Olympics.

It only made sense to attend if it was a farewell ceremony for him. Obviously he wants to keep going, but I still don't know what his end goal is. 2025 clay season? He's already skipped every hard court event in 2024, will he even go to Australia if he has a good off-season?

I think at this point in time, everyone knows Nadal's modus operandi.

He'll post some videos training intensely on social media, his fans will be hyped only for him to post his already famous hola a todos classical message saying he doesn't feel ready to compete at the AO.

Then he'll play the clay season and, even if he has a more favorable draw at RG, he'll likely not pass the 3R-4R-QF.

Then he will retire, after realizing he's fighting against an unbeatable wall: father time.

Maybe Davis Cup with Spain? Alongside Alcaraz, Charlie Cherry?

This is what I read but think about this man

Carlos Alcaraz

Played Saudi Exho vs Djokovic
Played Netflix Exho vs Nadal
Playing Laver Exho vs Team world
Playing 6 kings slam
Playing madison square garden exho

He is printing money and I hate it. This man should be given to the wolves Sinner/Medevedev/Zverev constantly in the post USOpen period. But he is going to duck around until AO playing god knows how many exhos.

Exactly, at least he’s not retiring there, and it means it would be in actual competition in 2025. The bad news is his body is still not ready. I hope he can heal, rest, train and give us all he has on the way out.
He just needs to be able to step on the court so we can celebrate him. Who cares whos he loses to. Just show highlights and have Fed there and make it a big show. Maybe one good banana shot.

You might see him at RG 2025, but not as a player. Time will tell.

When there was too much backlash over the Saudi deal, Federer visited Rafa academy for a day to show solidarity.

In return Rafa promised he would commit to the non-epic Laver cup and would not withdraw (if necessary) any sooner than a week before the event.

Friends in need.

i think its the opposite. hes basically saying hes not good enough to play. just like USO. just like Wimbledon. every hard court tournament.
hes been resting enough. at this point hes just getting older and worse :(

why do you all want him to come back next year? wasnt this years clay court season a bust as it is? so you think hes going to play better when hes 39?!?! ?!?!

He will probably win RG 2025. If/when he does so, I don't think he will retire, because he'll know he can win it again in 2026 or later. 2025 might well be his Wimbledon farewell, possibly Australian Open and US Open, too. But he might well play several more years at Roland Garros.

Neither Rafa or Novak is winning RG in 2025, deal with it!

Deal with what

Novak is holding olympics on same court beating Tsitsipas MugSetti and reigning RG champion Alcaraz

No one can say what will happen 9 months from now. What you say makes sense because probability of it happening is more than not.

I'll not believe Bull will lose at Roland Garros until I see him rotting.

According to the bookies, Djokovic is third favorite for RG 2025 at 7/2, narrowly behind second-favorite Sinner at 3/1. They have Alcaraz at 6/4, so some way ahead. (Nadal is sixth favorite).

But they are probably overestimating him relative to Sinner, as they have them as joint favorites for both the AO and UO, and Sinner is surely a better bet on hard courts.
