Withdraws from his match vs Fed in Miami, withdraws after Djokovic reaches the Paris final. Can't lose if you don't play Nadal still the king of that philosophy. So much for clay court specialist![]()
Grass: 5-1 (83.3%)
Clay: 21-3 (87.5%)
Outdoor HC: 22-2 (91.6%)

First season of his career in which his win percentage on hard is higher than it is on clay.

IW, not Miami. He didn’t bother to play Miami at all to get ready for Fognini’s beatdown of him at M-C due to “muscular overload” during Mallorca training sessions.Withdraws from his match vs Fed in Miami, withdraws after Djokovic reaches the Paris final. Weird stories are coming from Fed devotees' anti-Rafa propaganda rulebook.![]()
Withdrawal against fed was in Indian wells though,Withdraws from his match vs Fed in Miami, withdraws after Djokovic reaches the Paris final. Can't lose if you don't play Nadal still the king of that philosophy.
You say that like he's normally better on grass than hard courts?Overall he def looked better on HC this year than clay. Even grass up till the Fed match.
Well, thus far he hasn't had consecutive multi slams seasons. Could he do it now? I hope so, but he needs to stay healthy in the first place.Rafa has got much better on other surfaces. That being said, the level of tour has dropped.
But there is no denying Rafa is the best tennis player in the world going into 2020. He should win 2-3 slams unless Djoker has another level or these kids figure it out at the slams.
Fed will give it one last go, Djoker will need to raise his level. If Rafa keeps this level, I honestly don't see how he loses.

You krazyIm saying he looked better on hc AND grass this year than clay imo![]()
You krazy
I wanted to look at the percentage played of each big3 compared to the percentage of opportunity to be played at each of the big 14 tourneys. Could be interesting. Can anyone calculate his withdraw rate across surfaces?
Post Roger Federer's surface W-L in 2006.Grass: 5-1 (83.3%)
Clay: 21-3 (87.5%)
Outdoor HC: 22-2 (91.6%)
Indoor HC: 11-1 (91.6%)
How does this have to do with anything?Post Roger Federer's surface W-L in 2006.
I dare you.
Because that season is a trillion times superior to anything anyone has achieved in 2019. BTW-- also post Fed's season W-L for 2004 and 2007 which again obliterates anything any tennis player did in 2019.
If Nadal has another 3 slam season next year at the age of 34 then that truly will be proof, if ever it was needed, that the level of the tour has dropped.Rafa has got much better on other surfaces. That being said, the level of tour has dropped.

I've done my best to compile Nadal's hard court record over the past 2 years. Please feel free to correct any errors.
He's been incredibly consistent.

And completely unrelated to the topic. I mean, I'm a Fed fan, but if you see that kind of one-upping behavior from me, do not hesitate to let me know.Damn. I hate Fed but I at least show it in the relevant threads.
This is just a full blown meltdown![]()
It's misleading. His level tanked at the end of AO and about halfway through the clay season. But at the end he was his usual dominant self. If he maintains this level through the AO and does not get injured, he could be back to peak level on clay too.Overall he def looked better on HC this year than clay. Even grass up till the Fed match.
Yeah but those 5 wins were all unseeded opponents. MC to Madrid may have been the roughest stretch of his season, but from Rome to Paris he was handing out bakery products to the elite.Grass: 5-1 (83.3%)
Clay: 21-3 (87.5%)

Fed devotees have always called Fed's withdrawals 'good scheduling'.
He cheated by tanking the first half of the clay seasonFirst season of his career in which his win percentage on hard is higher than it is on clay.
It's funny because some here are arguing the opposite: that he instead tanked on hard courts by withdrawing. He cheated by tanking the first half of the clay season
