I don't think either Nadal or Djokovic are happy about being in the same quarter.

Yes, I'm eagerly awaiting the newest conspiracy. Unsure whether laughing or crying is the appropriate response...
In all seriousness, some of what he says surprises me a bit. Like saying that if Rafa had played all of the autumn swing he'd maybe be “If not in the top four, maybe one or two in the world. Who knows?". Really? #1, ahead of Novak at this point? Nah ;-)
I know right? Was he drunk on Moët when he gave that interview? That makes no sense whatsoever and I even think it's literally impossible for Nadal to be ranked 2nd or higher, even if he had played the US HC swing.
Seriously, I think Federer should stop running his mouth about Nadal and Djokovic (mainly kissing Rafa's behind) and focus on his own declining play. I hope he realizes that he's got a good chance to get to the final here, but he's acting as if he's already retired. Acting like an ex-sportsman, commentating on the current state of tennis all the time. Does he know he is still #2 at the moment!?

What's with all the Nadal praise from Roger lately? I think he's trying to cheer him up, perhaps the friendship is more real than I thought, or he really doesn't want to see Djokovic win Ha Ha.
I agree with Roger on that one, if Nadal plays well and beats or drains a lot of energy from Djokovic in the QF, it could be tough.
He's stating the truth. Nadal is the 9-time champion. What on earth could possibly affect him there?
Djokovic, on the other hand, is going to have to slay the beast and then find a way to get mentally ready for two more matches to win the trophy. It's a far worse situation for him.
There doesn't have to be some sinister motive behind every interview these guys give. Just use a little logic and you can quickly conclude that he's simply giving an honest answer.
At almost age 34, he is number two in the world. What more do you want? Leave him alone. He gets asked these questions about Nadal and Djokovic all of the time. What is he supposed to say? He is giving his opinion about how Nadal's seeding at RG is dangerous for the other top players and he is right. What is the big deal? We also know that when Nadal is in good form he can be a challenge for Djokovic at the slams and yes all of the slams. We know this from past experience. I don't know what some people are freaking out about on this forum. The truth?
Truth?A bunch of crazies on this forum it seems? All of a sudden Federer can't speak the truth.
Truth?
This is a great tennis player, not a great thinker.
I would just quote Mark Twain:
"The report of my death was an exaggeration," then use the for Nadal.
Of course he doesn't. Federer is #2 by accident. It's not like he's training or fighting for it. He's just vacationing all year and he's #2 because he's just that good. Obviously.Seriously, I think Federer should stop running his mouth about Nadal and Djokovic (mainly kissing Rafa's behind) and focus on his own declining play. not just federer. Anytime any of them speak, the loonies come out over-analyzing every word like its sola scriptura and has some underlying intent to mind$&@# one of their rivals.
Just par for the course.
And, if federer does like nadal better than djokovic, so what? He has that right. Methinks novak's need to be loved by all has bled into his fan base. Sensitive.

Preach it merwy. So nice to see an objective Federer fan on here.

Who said that?Apparently you're only rational right now if you think he's going to take Nadal down in 3 or 4 sets.
Truth?

Federer really is a bit all over the place these days though. First, I believe he called Nadal and Djokovic "co-favourites" before Rome. Then after Rome, he basically said Nadal WAS the favourite. How he figured that after Nadal lost to Wawrinka losing 4 SP's and a 6-2 2nd set and Djokovic cremated him, I'll never know. Now he's saying this, which falls in line with Nadal being the favourite, I guess, but it also hurts Nadal too. Federer's picking a side here when in reality both are hurt by falling in the same QF. I kind of understand what Federer is saying about Nadal only thinking about defending his title so the earlier Novak has to play him the worse it is for him, but it's a very real possibility also that Nadal could lose to Djokovic and I believe he's out of the top 10 then. That's where Federer is wrong in brushing that aside IMO.
And the part about Nadal being #1 is pretty laughable in all honesty. Top 4 if not injured I could certainly see, maybe even 2nd (although I doubt that as well the way he was going last year), but he wouldn't be #1. After Wimbledon last year, Nadal had the HC triple to defend, and he's never defended a HC title in his life so there's that.
There's no way Nadal would've picked up enough points to finish #1 in his weakest part of the season. He probably would've skipped one of Shanghai or Paris anyway, and he had 1000 pts to defend at the WTF's.
Like I said, laughable, especially considering Novak's post USO run.
Rafa had only 800 points to defend at WTF
No. He had 1000.

Besides that, he a F (300 pts) to defend in Beijing, and SF's (360 pts) in Shanghai and Paris.
It's pretty clear Federer likes Nadal more than he likes Djokovic.
Sorry, I forgot SF win gets 400 points. I was just calculating four wins, so four times 200
I think Nole can suffer from a burn out after playing at a really high level up till now this year. But, still it would take a huge effort in Nadal's level of play to beat Nole. If Nadal finds that extra gear in first four matches, I'd give him the edge over Nole.
