I had the day off on Tuesday so me and my buddy decided to go to the little driving range around the corner. Now, this isn't a fancy club or anything but rather just a little 9 hole, 3 par course that the average golfer in the city uses. It has a couple pay tennis courts in the back and a driving range and some other stuff up front. We pay for our clubs and balls and such and make our way out to driving range. I walk out and the first person I see is bam, Pete Sampras. "No" I thought, "it couldn't be." But despite the sunglasses, or even because he always wears them to matches when he's on TV, I instantly recognized it was the one and only Pete Sampras. Still, I asked, "Is it... Could it be?" By this time, he had begun to notice me noticing him (and probably heard me too) and, being the reserved man he is, he just kinda smiled coyly my way. "The Pistol," I said with reverence. "He does it all," said my friend. Pete just kinda chuckled and acknowledge our respect. Now, he was out there with his golfing coach and despite urges to run and grab a racquet or have him take a picture, me and my buddy opted not to. Aside from not wanting to interrupt his lesson, I understood he's kinda a quiet guy and I didn't want to cause a fuss by making him into the attraction of the course. Still, for the next half hour, I got do hit drives alongside Pete Sampras and that was enough to make my Summer right there. So all in all, it wasn't really a spectacular meeting or anything but definitely something for the permanent memory banks seeing as that's probably as close to competing with Pete Sampras as I'm ever gonna get. But if you're wondering how his golfing was looking, well let me just say it looks as if Tennis isn't the only thing he could teach me a lesson at! Fore~
