Miami used to be in my top 3, but since they moved the event to a car park it has lost some of its status and the big players don’t seem to care for it.

Rome and IW get some extra swag points.

For the rest, they are about equal to me. Warm-up and point-gathering events most of all. Like Diamond League in athletics.

I agree, moving Miami to a suburban hell hole has really diminished its prestige.

IW & MI are still the only 7 round draws correct?

I mean Rome is old but still only 6 rounds for those outside the Top 8 who get BYEs. So it's by default IW and MI are at the top with IW clearly ahead.

1. IW
2. MI
3. RM

It gets shady after that. Paris and Canada are clearly at the bottom though because of the skips by top players and in Canada's case the proximity to Cincy. So then you're left with the middle of MC, MD and SHG. Hard but MC looks so beautiful and the money is there.

4. CIN
5. MC
6. SHG
7. MD
8. CA
9. PR

Not wanting to call you out but a strange list, outlier I suppose. You've got Cincinnati at the bottom and that's hard to justify so I'd love your thoughts. Having attended it multiple times and the top guys playing, it's just hard seeing it below Paris and Madrid. It's also the clear warm up to the USO. And then you have Canada at 4th which as someone who has gone there a hell of a ton being so close I am also flabbergasted.

Rome is the most prestigious. Hamburg obviously a bit of a joke. Everything in between is contestable.

It is a troll post. Paris would be in first if Novak had won more 4 of them.

Professional
IW (almost a Grand Slam because of the structure, money and calendar).

Miami (lost it's spot to IW)
Rome
Cincinnati
Madrid
Canada
Paris (don't know why the hate for this event here, great city, great venue, great court speed, only problem is it's spot in the calendar)

Monte Carlo (maybe the most beautiful place on tour, but the slow conditions make it a clay court players only event)

Shanghai

There is historical importance than importance to players. In terms of prestige of the tournaments and historical significance -
IW
Miami
Rome
Canada (older than AO)
Cincinnati
Monte Carlo
Paris masters
Madrid masters
Shanghai

I don't understand the logic here. Why would any player skip a Masters in preparation for another Masters?

It's a misconception IMO due to Federer skipping it so many times because HE prioritizes Cincy and he prefers Cincy's proximity to the USO instead of Canada's with a 2 week gap.

I mean, I frequent both tournaments and the USO. There's a definitive atmosphere change, although Montreal is CLEARLY superior to Toronto. Anyway, Sampras routinely skipped Canada but played Cincy, Hewitt would always get bounced early then go deep in Cincy and I know it's crass to say he played down but it's kinda hard to miss the big disparity despite the surfaces not being the reason. I'm not going to die on this hill necessarily but I just can't remember many stacked semis last twenty years.

You got champs such as Pavel, Canas, Tsonga, Zverev and Murray 3 times while Nadal has won it 5 times but Cincy once. Then finalists such as Fish, Gasquet x2, Kiefer, Levy. Semifinalists include Mathieau, ancient Rusedski, Stepanek, Tipsarevic twice, ancient Lopez, Chardy, Hasse and older Monfils twice.

IW, Miami or Rome is most prestigious one, others are more or less equal, some players prioritize one , some another but they are all equal

Yeah life revolves around Fed and Sampras, Canada is equally prestigious as Cincy and Tsonga run was one of the best one I have seen.
Coming from Hewiit fan , what was Hewitt excuse for not winning others master apart from Canada one
