WTF: Federer, Murray, Djokovic, Nadal, Del Potro

Overall:
Federer >>>> Djokovic >/= Nadal > Wawrinka > Del Potro >> Murray >>>>> the rest

Federer almost a universal #1, Djokovic and Nadal distant 2nd and 3rd, but have a few tournaments where they're the most popular. Djokovic more popular in Europe/Asia while Nadal more popular in Americas. Del Potro and Wawrinka behind Fedalovic. Delpo more popular in the Americas vs Wawrinka in Europe. Murray a top favorite in the UK, but doesn't have the same legions as Fedalovic.

Thanks for the laugh. Always good to have the odd clown around here to give us a spot of light relief from the serious and important discussions the rest of us have to engage in.

Why do you think Djokovic is on top of Federer in China? You are his fan, so somewhere he must stand on top?

Realistically it’s true that in China Djokovic gets more respect than in many other countries, but the Chinese are crazy about Federer.

Incorrect. Nadal is closer to Federer than Djokovic is to Nadal in terms of popularity. Nadal has 14 million Facebook followers, the same number than Federer, while Djokovic only has 7 million followers on Facebook. And Nadal has more followers both on Instagram and Twitter than Federer. Djokovic doesn't have more followers than Federer on any social media.

He's a troll with a particular mission to troll Murray. Why else do you think he never mentioned Murray in any of the tournaments he posted about whilst mentioning practically every other player you can think of? He's a buffoon.
It seems he's just suffering from a serious case of Fedr derangement syndrome. Hates clay courts, Nadal, "Muggy", anything that threatens Fedr.

Did you seriously expect him to? The guy's a clown who's out to troll Murray. It's the only reason he posts here (well, he does like to fill out the time by doing the odd bit of clay trolling too).

Andrew is not currently playing on the ATP Tour

No reason to rank him any longer in active player discussions

Judging from my personal experiences in China and at Shanghai, I'd argue that, although they love Djokovic, Federer reigns supreme in popularity. I'd say that Federer is slightly more popular than Djokovic, with some Japanese players (excluding Nishikori) near the back of the pack in terms of fan love. I believe that although the Chinese want to see more Asian representation in male tennis, there is still some lingering resentment towards the Japanese (probably territorial disputes and World War II massacres), though this is improving.

Ferrer is still active considering he last played in this season. That would be 4 months more recent than Andrew. He may well change his mind like Haas.

Speaking of which Haas's retirement is mentioned

Haas and Ferrer are both now formally retired so neither are any longer officially active. Murray last played only 4 months ago and has yet to officially announce his retirement which means he is still officially active as we speak.

Can we just get this over with and say Federer for all of them? ;)

Serious answer

Doha: I don't know, I'd say Federer but he doesn't play there anymore. So probably Djokovic and then Nadal.
Brisbane Federer then probably Hewitt if he was still playing
Australian Open Federer, Djokovic, Nadal
Acapulco Nadal
Dubai Federer, Djokovic, Nadal
Indian Wells Federer, Nadal, Djokovic
Miami Federer, Nadal, Djokovic. In normal circumstances I'd switch Djokovic and Nadal, but Miami has a pretty high Latin American population that loves Nadal.
Monte Carlo Nadal, Federer, Djokovic (very close b/w Fed and Djoker IMO.
Barcelona Nadal, the end
Madrid Nadal, then probably someone like Ferrer tbh. Never got the impression Fed or Djoker are super popular there.
Rome Maybe Nadal? Tough to say if Federer got more this year. I'd say Fabio too
French Open Federer, then any Frenchman. Monfils is probably second
Halle Federer, the end
Queens Murray
Wimbledon Murray. Obviously Federer gets a ton too, but I think when it comes right down to it they root hard for Murray as expected. Then probably Nadal and then Djokovic
Canada Djokovic. I'll give him this one. He's played and won there the most. Splitting hairs between Nadal and Fed
Cincinnati Federer, Djokovic, Nadal
US Open Today it's Federer, but I remember times when Blake, Roddick and Agassi got more in the mid 00's, especially Agassi. I think Nadal comes second and Djoker 3rd.
Beijing Djokovic
Shanghai I'll give this one to Fed, but it's close. The Chinese love Djoker.
Basel Well I wonder? I'd put Delpo second.
Paris Bercy Federer, Djokovic, Nadal
WTF London Federer, Murray, Djokovic, Nadal

Good point about Fedr at the US Open. People forget the times when the USO crowd was aggressively partisan toward Agassi and cheered Federer errors. Fast forward 10 years and Federer is the heavy crowd favorite against Djokovic.
It takes time for the American crowd to warm up to new champions. It's only a matter of time before we get the same situation with Djokovic against Zverev or some younger player.

EDIT: Djokovic is a huge favorite in Rome too. Def up there with Nadal and Fed. Also interesting choice putting Djokovic #1 in Canada. I've never been there to see the crowd live, but I always got the impression that he isn't as big in Canada and the US as elsewhere. I may very well be hilariously wrong though.

Yeah I know people think fed just rolled out of bed being the favorite but that wasnt the case. I feel like 2008 may have been a key point for uso fans and fed. Also speaking of cheering or booing sometimes I feel like tennis one of those sports where fans cant act like sports fans. Heaven forbid you cheer errors because it means your fav got a point like it's so bizarre to me and its legit hilarious to me when british fans go on about appropriate sport behavior. i definitely understand that its a different sport in that you to have to be careful when you shout out and interrupting the point but there is so much policing over when to cheer, how to cheer etc

I admire you for even attempting to make a go of this. This is a super difficult topic. A lot harder than picking who would be the top 3 favorites playing wise to win each tournament.

All i know is Federer would be top 3 in almost every one in this category though. Nadal in most places is also top 3.
