I wonder how fast he would serve if he was 62, 5'11", and a skinny 145 lbs.?
God blessed him with adaquate size to hit a serve, with ANY technique.

It depends on how you measure 5'11, is that barefoot or with shoes on? Because with my tennis shoes and insoles im about 1.5 inches taller. But casual footwear maybe 3/8 of an inch taller only.

Me, I never ever hit a tennis ball barefeet, so I can't say my height barefeet, since it's not important.
Another variable....I have superflat feet. Arch down, I"m a true 5'10 and 1/4". Arch up, I gain 1/2" or slightly more. Add shoes, new? worn? insoles? arch supports?
So, reality, between 5'10 and 3/4 up to 5'11 and 3/4".

according to my physical. i am 127cm. i envy you guys.

but being 5 9/10 i dont really feel a disadvantage of serving. i guess i wouldnt know because ive never been 6 2. but with good techinque you can still have an okay serve.

I'm worried about his shoulder. I guess he and his team know what they're doing but, ouch!

Wow, I just grabbed a calculator and 127 divided by 2.54 ='s some 50 and now what do I do?
No, I did not pass Algebra 45 years ago.
Yet, 72" x 2.54 does equal 182.88cms.
I need a math lesson.

This is the fourth thread on this guy. Can we like...merge them to keep it as one rather than finding other ways to increase our post count?

I think he meant 172 which is around 5'7.7".

Im 175 cm barefoot, 5'9. Hoping to get to 182, but at 17 I doubt it thos my dad 185 and didnt grow till 18.=[ sucks to be short.

Ha ha...
I graduated high school at 5'6 1/2" and 124 lbs. The only reason I was that heavy was all the supplements we had to ingest for football and basketball. For the next 20 years, I barely weighed more than 10lbs more, but grew 4 inches by the time I was 22.
My older bro was 5'10" and 150 lbs in 7th grade.
In 7th grade, I was closer to 4'4" and 72 lbs.

Great read. Maybe next you could talk a bit about your favorite color.

Favorite color.......
Well, back in the 3rd grade, most people were wearing blues and reds, so I thought being contrary was a unique idea, so I decided to mostly green. Problem was, most of my clothes were bought by my parents, so I had to propose a new idea.....give me 10 bucks a month for food and new clothing! I thought this idea up all by myself, so when my older brother and my ...........................

Well i think the serve is all about technique. Height and size does help but the correct technique can improve your serve dramatically? Ive been working on my serve a lot lately and I'm hitting it substantially harder than i did previously. Haha and a friend of a friend is like 5'4 and 90lbs and he hits with the best of them (literally).

LOL but i guess asians arent blessed with being naturally big. I'm still 5"10 and 130something. Wouldnt mind filling out soon =/

if a 5'4" 100 lbs'er can serve nearly as fast as you, then you have no serve whatsoever.
It's just physics. Longer leverage arm and all that stuff.
As for technque, I have to assume you have some.

Haha that 5'4 90lb kid can serve just as hard as a big 170lb 6'2, 18 yearold who is scheduled to play some decent div. 2 tennis next year

Most teens don't serve nearly as fast as they will when they graduate from high school. Body is still growing, training is insufficient, and strength is not there yet.
Around 20-32 is usually the strongest a person will ever be.
You can have tons of nervous energy, but that is not going to help you when you're matched with an adult.

Yeah i totally agree. I look at myself and I'm pretty confident that I will be able to develop into a decent player. I know I'm a good athlete, I've been playing AAA hockey for years. Size isnt my best asset but i think i can survive. I think my serve will come with time.

The guy im talking about has been playing ever since he can walk. Hes properly trained and his brother was the topped ranked player is the 14s 16s and 18s consistently. Needless to say hes a very good player and id bet money that he will get a full scholarship just like his brother.

Dominika Cibulkova serves up to about 110 MPH in her matches. Plenty of relatively "good" serves are hit with less pace than that. Of course a longer arm and a strong body help, but it doesn't mean jack if your motion isn't right.

Hope we don't start comparing pro players to us.
AmandaCoetzer, at 5' even, was timed at 120 at the French, a CLAY tournament. She hit plenty of serves over 115, but still lost early.
