Post #13, some dummy complimented on your 1hbh.

 I am sorry LeeD that I didnt mention you. I did remember your comments BUT I wanted to say to FitzRoy was that he likes my backhand more than my forehand, which is strange since no one likes my backhand more than my forehand, not even me !

I actually find nothing wrong with your backhand, while your forehand can use some brushing up. Seems a few players with 2hbh's are like this, but you hit a clean 1hbh.

I agree with LeeD. I'm not saying you get better results from the backhand - you say you hit better angles with the forehand, more consistent, etc., and I believe you when you say that. It's your experience, after all ;)

I just watch the strokes themselves and the backhand looks better to me technique-wise. I agree with LeeD that you seem to hit it pretty cleanly. I think that most errors for people with 1hbh tend to come from footwork and lack of setup more so than technique itself. Your technique looks good to me. Talking about the topspin backhand, here - the slice seems a little choppy, somehow. It would be cool if we could see both topspin and slice backhands in match play on your next vid, and see where they work and don't work for you in points.

But the fact that we're talking about which stroke is better, and stuff like that, is enough to see that you're well above 3.0.

Yes, you both are right that the topspin BH technique is sound and there is a reason for it :) I learned to hit a topspin backhand about an year ago. I had to unlearn my previous backhand, so it is technically sound. It doesnt come natural to me, so I have to concentrate a lot on the technique. I just need to be more confident when I hit it. As FitzRoy has mentioned it, for my 1HBH, when I am tired and I dont concentrate I miss hit a lot. My slice is not good as my racquet goes sideways ... I should work on it. However, when I play against players with more pace, the slice works much better

Would be good to be able to add slice onto slow moving incoming balls, for a variety shot, for maintaining solid footwork.
Most players use a 1hbh slice as a defensive shot, so an openstance is OK, slow pace and a little higher to give time.
But that slice can also be used as a forcing shot, closed stance, back to the opposition, hard sliced low and skidded.
But there is only SO much daylight in a day, so you gotta progress at your own pace.
You're hitting really well, hope it continues.
