The guy in white shirt seems to have pretty reliable serves, other than that his game is like 2.5 but overall ~3.0. The other guy seems to be about the same.

both 3.5 at least - their backhands aren't anything spectacular but their serves and forehands are pretty good. They seem pretty slow for their age which I thought was around mid 20

Their serves are ok, seems to be the best shot for both guys. But the footwork..They struggle a lot with their positioning. A lot of times they stand too close to the ball. I would say both guys are the same level, but don't ask me wath ntrp this is, i have no idea.

you are pushing it when you call these guys at least 3.5. When they can't rally consistently more than 6 shots, I honestly don't think they are 3.5+ in my book.

thier strokes looks decent.... well at least the one in the grey without the hat.

the guy with the grey is at least a 3.5..... and the guy in the white maybe a 3.0 or so.

The guy on the grey shirt is about 3.5. The guy on the white shirt is definitely between 2.5 to 3.0.

White shirt guy forehand lacks consistency, power and control. Footwork and form are definitely not there, he's too busy chasing the ball around. No back hand, and playing too close to the baseline (don't know how to step back on deep balls).

Grey Shirt guy was totally dominating the game and was in control of the game - he managed to move his opponent around and was playing it safe to win the game.

Both have consistent serve but it lacks the power and positioning that you would see when playing a 3.5 player.

I would say strong 3.5. They don't hit hard but can rally with some placement and do attack under control. Footwork is often flat footed but they do get serves and overheads in. Better footwork (on toes and knees bent and ready to move) and they are both 4.0.

This is correct. The "3.5 at least" comments are off in the sense that they are implying that they could be 4.0s, which IMO would be extremely unlikely since the two aspects of their game that come through to me in the video are: nonclassic stroke style and inconsistency, especially with deep shots. It would be the rare individual who could compete in 4.0s (in my area anyway) with both of those liabilities.

By saying "3.5 at most", they are probably good 3.0s, who if they had a great mental game, physical fitness or some other intangible, could compete in the 3.5s

haha, then again the video is all clipped into small segments...we are probably getting only the serves that went in. Anyone who rates these guys 3.5+ obviously hasn't played a real 3.5+.

I prefer giving strengths and weaknesses rather than getting hung up on ratings (which are meaningless in overall scheme of things)

Strengths : Decent club level serve good spin with some pace. The guy in white seem to have a good approach shot and was good at the net. I am guessing he won the match.

liabilities: backhand for both. Ground strokes overall could use more depth, pace and consistency. Movement- they are way too slow for how young they look and how they both look like they are in ok shape.

Good news is that they are young and have a lot of time to work on their game

I'd say they are weak both 3.0's at best who need to work on their consistency.

That being said, I must give my usual caveat and say that I have not watched the video or even read the other posts in this thread.

Video yourself- I'll bet you that you will be surprised by how slow you look, how bad your strokes are compared to what you think they look like. I did it once and I was pretty shocked. I am sure if posted it most people would rate me pretty low. But if they saw my tournament record they would be pretty surprised.

My point has been proved over and over on these boards when vids of player with known rankings and official computer ratings in amateur, college and pro levels have been posted and people have rated them 2-3 levels below. Do a search this topic has been beaten to death, yet people still do the same thing so there is no point in adding another video. You didn't believe the guy playing 4.0 #1 singles in New Jersey was a 4.0 even though he has a winning record and an official rating, so what would change if I posted my video?

I think you're right on. They have some tendencies to play at a lower leveled 3.5, but most strokes, shots, vollies are 3.0 for certain. Keep in mind, it isn't difficult to return shots that have a little topspin, no pace, and hit very short in the middle of the court. Guys in our area 3.5 league would demolish these two with no problems whatsoever.

The only parts I would say look to be 3.5ish are their serves and a few strokes. Their serves don't have a whole lot of pace, but they're decent...not bad form for 3.0 at all.

Definitely not 2.5's and definitely not 3.5 or 3.5+. Footwork is a HUGE problem for these guys, but that will eventually develop the more they play and the better they get. But, my opinion stinks...LOL.

You must be trying to build your own game up because as rusty as these two yokels look, they are not 2.5. That's as low as you can go in most leagues. Their forehands alone make them a little better.

I thought he was in Maryland but when I went back to the orginal thread the OP said it was New Jersey.

Lol I have already played 3 players on this forum from different parts of the country and I have a computer rating from playing USTA for 2 years so I think I have a pretty good idea of my NTRP.

Both of them use consistency as a weapon. It may not seem like a long rally, but a baseline bashing 3.5 would lose the points so fast. Their serves are consistent too, unless there's been video editing. But their backhands are awful. Neither of them show any gameplan or point building. Only one of them has shown any variety in his game, but even then it was not too good.

Only two I've seen play are Peterson and Taylor. But honestly I agree, any of those guys probably gives grey guy a pretty good match.
