Rating: D = Dynamic vs S, C, T, etc.

I hate to start another rating thread and I understand what a "dynamic rating" is in terms of being a more precise rating than the public 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 rating. I also understand it changes and adjusts after every match depending on a player's dynamic rating going in, opponent's dynamic rating and match score.

My question is when a player self-rates and gets DQ'd with matches played forfeited at one level their rating appears to change from S - Self-rate to D - Dynamic. They don't appear to get a full C - Computer rating; I assume b/c they have yet to play a full season.

We've faced two different teams that have had this scenario. One was DQ'd out of our level so we received a win for that match played and one was DQ'd out of the level below and now exclusively plays our level.

My question is are these players still open to being DQ'd with matches played forfeited if they continue to dominate at the higher level for the rest of this season?...or does their D rating "protect" them now? It would guess they are still open to DQ b/c otherwise simply self-rating 2 levels low instead of one would protect you. Wondering if others have seen this scenario play out.

Only B- and C-rated players are protected from dynamic DQ. If the player moves up and dominates the next level, they are subject to the 3-strikes dynamic DQ at that level, too.

I've never seen anyone dynamically DQ'd at two levels in the same season, although one guy probably got pretty close. He originally signed up for a 3.5 team because his brother was the captain and wanted him to play. He also signed up for a 4.0 team because, well, he was actually way better than 3.5. Predictably, he got DQ'd from 3.5 after playing 3 matches for the 4.0 team, but he also finished the year with a 5-1 singles record in 4.0, including a straight set win against a guy who was bumped to 4.5 and another 6-0 6-0 double bagel against a 4.0 C rated player. You gotta figure that was 2 strikes at the 4.0 level, too, so he was lucky he didn't get a third.

I've never seen or heard of anyone getting DQ'd at two different levels.

We did have one guy who got DQ'd at 3.0 and moved up to 3.5 and at the end of the year he got bumped again to 4.0.

Sad thing is is that he's really just a 3.0/3.5ish pusher. No idea how he got bumped to 4.0.

Thanks for the feedback, I just got to wondering after seeing two DQ's in a short time and noticing both their ratings were "D" when I looked them up.
