Hi,
I am writing on behalf of a friend who self-rated (in my mind, legitimately) as a 3.5. He has won 3 mixed 7.0 matches so far this year - all in straight sets with a strong female 3.5 - avg score 6-3,6-2 against fairly strong opponents.
I know he can't get dynamically DQ'd in mxd. but what happens with his rating when he starts to play men's in May? Does he start at 0.0 and generate a dynamic rating after his first match? Or would he already have a dynamic rating from mixed? Most importantly, would he start to accumulate "strikes" from the first match?
My friend wants to join a men's team but is worried about getting DQ'd because it looks like his 7.0 mxd team might go to the playoffs and he wants to join them there. Is it better for him to join men's 3.5 or 4.0? I'm thinking 3.5?
Thanks.
