RDS 002 compared to RDS 001

I am currently using the RDS 001 mid strung with luxilon BB ALU @ 60 and was planning on switching to the RDS 002. So I tried out the RDS 002 sl, and I could not really find a major difference other than that it was a heavier racquet. They both play almost the sam in my opionion. Is there supposed to be any difference? Thanks

I am guessing you are talking about the mid-plus RDS001 and not the mid ?

I haven't done enough back to back hitting with the two as yet to give definitive conclusions, but I can easily switch between the two with little adjustment even though there are subtle differences.

For me the RDS002T SL serves a little better, has a little more power, is more stable and produces a little more spin. It is noticeably flexier and more comfortable than the RDS001 mp.

I would agree with you. When I demoed the RDS 002, it had wilsion demo strings and I am more used to luxilon strings. How do you think the strings influence the racquet playability? I just don't want to change my racquet choice because of a small difference.

I think the strings have a huge impact, but is it worth changing racquets ? It depends on what you are hoping to gain in switching. If it gives you more confidence in your game or one particular aspect of it then yes it is worth the switch.

For me, my flat serves are now a little better and I can now use my favourite Luxilon Ace again. With the RDS001 I couldn't because of the forearm pain I started to experience. However SPPP in my RDS001 and a little lead tape at 10 & 2 for better flat serves has pretty much resolved the issues I had with it, which is why I now need to spend more time with both to decide which better suits my game.

If your talking about the 002 Tour, I have both and think the difference is huge. Sure, alot could be weight related but the tour produces a heavier ball for me. My one-handed back hands and volleys are crisper. I let the racquet do more of the work (this is even after toning down the power with premier ace strings)

Oddly, I still like the rds 001 mp in its own right. I can whip thru my serves and produce more spin (both top and underspin). But like the mid 001, reward comes when you swing hard.

I also experienced that the RDS 002 produces a heavier ball but I just like the feel when I can crank a forehand down the line with my 001 because it is so light. But I play more consistent with the RDS 002. So I guess the question boils down to the this point: Is it better to give up feel and comfort for consistency or is comfort and feel more important?

I guess now I am debating on whether I should get the RDS 001 mp or the RDS 002 tour. I can't seem to pick which one. They both are very nice racquets and I like how both of them play.
