Reading Balance point: measuring with or without strings??

I just finished building my home made balance board and I'm measuring my racquets. All racquets are strung and have a cut to fit supergrap overgrip on them.

My N6.1's are rated at 12 points head light but I'm getting a reading of 7 points. Do the factory specs refer to a strung or an unstrung racquet??

Just to make sure I did things right, I measure 13.5'' from the balance of the board and then every 1/8'' more or less 13.5'' equals 1 point. <13.5'' = head light and > than 13.5'' = head heavy.

So is my DIY board horribly flawed or do the factory specs refer to unstrung racquets??

Thanks

Specs on the racquet are usually unstrung, since they have no idea which string you will put in them. There are slight variations in string mass, due to composition and gauge. TW tends to list the balance points as strung with average weight strings, check your readings against them. Racquets do tend to have variations in manufacturing, I have never gotten two racquets the same. The supergrap will measurably effect the balance, especially on light racquets.

Your board design theory sounds correct.
