Stars have aligned for Nadal to win the 2018 US Open, it will be the first time he defends a non-clay title.

  • Nadal won his first ATP event at the age of 18
  • 2018 is Nadal's 18th professional tennis season
  • He reached the #1 ranking for the first time on August 18, 2008
  • He reached 18 finals on hard court MS1000
  • He has a 18-8 record against Federer/Nole at the majors

A fitting ending for Nadal in the year 2018 who will finish the year with 18 majors.

Not sure if this is a jinx thread or not...

But still, interesting.

The number one reason for me is, he is playing with confidence on every surface and as a result is a massive contender for any slam he enters.

Yes, all Rafans seem to be positive. One match at a time though.

The USO has the most neutral court conditions of all the slams, so any dark horse contender could knock out Fed or Djoko for him. I'm a Rafa fan and would like to see him take out Fedovic, but let's face it, those two's styles suit HC much better than his and vice versa with clay. Tennis is all about match ups and whoever makes it to the end and wins is the winner fair and square.

I don’t think he can beat djoker

Plus chilic and Del po are very dangerous

The main reasons that make Nadal one of the main two contenders for the title are that the playing conditions suit his game, the draw, and his rather agreesive game that is able to overcome all but the defence of the very best players in the game.

There is no such thing as "neutral" conditions. Ask Federer. He would prefer to play in faster conditions like Shanghai.
