Reasons why Novak is disliked in NY:

Raul_SJ

G.O.A.T.
He abused Andy Roddick and the crowd once back in 2007/8..From then the US crowds cheer for his opponent...specially when a Top 10 player plays against him.
Djoker was an unknown kid at the time. New Yorkers neither care even remember the Roddick incident. We are in a new era. 20 Slams later.

There are a million new reasons for New Yorkers to hate Djoker but Roddick is not on that list.

And young Djoker did not "abuse" anyone. Roddick shot off his big mouth like a wise ass and questioned his injuries. So you've got that all wrong. Again.

Begging for applause from the peanut gallery yet again!

While I don't disagree with you regarding the presumptuous know-nothings from 10,000 miles away, I do (per the bolded above) ask if you would have a source. Further, as a born-in-manhattan ny'er I disagree with your sweeping assumption that all NY'ers hate Djokovic. I would leave the sweeping, know-nothing generalizations to "10,000 mile away" clowns like the one below -- you're much better than that BF.

I can't think of one, so can you supply me the one million reasons?

Haha his Delusional fans need to understand the fact that. Taking Long breaks when he is down and untimely MTOs to disrupt player rythm. We blame tsitsipas for all these but the father of all this tactics is noneother than djoker himself.

His anger management and cringy celebrations doesn't go well with NYC or any crowd in the world. Therefore he gets booed.

Now that Tsitsipas has created a certain crowd sensitivity against these unethical practices, let’s see if Djokovic tries to use them in next matches and what would the reaction be.

None of the above. He’s just not charismatic and has a negative body language. People don’t like that.
A) Not charismatic
B) Boring, robotic game even if technically at the highest level there is (compare him to Alcaraz and his shot making and obvious charisma)
C) Negative body language generally

You are I have not watched the same Djokovic over the years. The one I watched has a great game. Fabulous ground strokes and exciting game. Nothing boring in his game. I'll take his game over serve/volley any day of the week.

You sir seem like one of the oldest active ids in this forum, probably even the oldest, since Feb 04?

I would like you know your views on the GOAT Race, your top 5 or 10 tennis players ever and also a brief reasoning as to why that order or hierarchy please....

PS : from your earlier responses on the forum I understood that you don't like Federer a lot. 8-B

Basement Bill is, however, so old that Alzheimer's may have set in, so expect a foggy answer.

Lol his ID seemed oldest to me among all active (Feb 04 ), even your ID is from 05 @Bartelby, even your ID seems quite old, possible you might have come across @Dedans Penthouse before as well....

Anyway, I noticed this guy some weeks back, it is evident that he doesn't like Federer, so I am guessing he was a fan of Sampras to have so much dissent, because within 6 years Rodgi broke of all of those records, plus he is American too, good reason to be pro Sampras and anti Fed. :X3:

He is probably 50+ in age because he was in a mature Tennis forum like this 17-18 years back, that means he was at least in his early 30s in 04. I would like to think in his 30s back then because guys in 20s were mostly on Myspace, hifi and that kinda stuffs I think so. ... so that makes him someone who would have maybe even seen the 70s/80s, so I am curious to know where he places these current guys with respect to the yesteryear greats.

He doesn't really have too much to say about tennis champions. He seems to check in and check out once or twice on the weekend. But like the Hotel California he can never leave.

Ya, guess u r right, I saw his ID so old so I was surprised. Whenever we bump old posts of that period we find all those users are not active for years and have left the forum.

So his presence seems same to that of someone like Karlovic/Lopez types, who are on tour since the 99-01 type periods, Federer too, Fed is probably the longest active singles career currently I think so?

In 2004-05 period I was still in school and I did not know of this forum, however I had joined social media in 2004 via a social media platform called Orkut. It was very famous in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brazil and such countries.... In the US I guess Hifi/Myspace type platforms were popular, then Zuckerberg's Facebook gained traction, lot of people made their IDs on it, most of the teens and ppl in 20s were active on all that........

Not sure which age groups used TTW back then, must be folk who were at least 25-30+ back then

Normally this shouldn't happen. A 20 time slam winner should get more respect and Love. I wouldn't abuse him or cheer for his errors if I was part of the crowd.

He is only better than people born from mid 80s to late 90s

Since he never played the guys born early 80s or before in their peaks and beat them consistently there is guarantee he is better than Federer or Safin or Sampras or McEnroe or Agassi..... Since the guys born 1999 onwards have not yet peaked, there is no guarantee Novak is better than them or not.

Sorry Sunny, but you are wrong re: Federer but as you are an ardent student of the "my favourite male tennis idol is better than your favourite male tennis idol" school I should advise you that I've posted slews of posts complimenting Federer, complimenting Nadal and complementing Djokovic. What I dislike are the fanboys who've turned Talk Tennis into an emo-boy batch of barking brats and so I've come to figure this way: "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" .... put simply: "to troll is human, to troll a troll, devine " : )
The odd Fed-flame I author is mere tweaking of the fanboy brigade. My history is rife with "fan of tennis - like 'em all" which represents my overall mindset Lately the Novak quacks have been feeling their oats but overall, Fedfans own the abuse gold medal.

Check out some of the fanboy swipes in this thread alone courtesy of fedfanboys, some of whom are generally pretty humorous (read: cool) dudes e.g. @vive le beau jeu ! while on the other hand there are others @Bartelby who take pleasure in sneeringly denigrating e.g. a Nadal who's overall been a positive force in tennis (let alone an all-time great of the sport) without bating an eyelash. Oh and btw there was a time when I'd troll the board's resident Nadalophile like it was nobody's business....but then had 'em all 'making nice' at the end....sort of..... : )

Wow, Dedan's, Phil and Datachipher posting at the same time. At least one of them is still around! ;)

Norcal, how's the neighbor-on-the-swing? :-D

Senator Jay Bullworth said:
Love Thy Neighbor
I guess a little background is required, since the thread got deleted. (From what i recall, and this happened ages ago), norcal was trimming his bushes, when he looked across the fence. His neighbour’s wife was sitting on a swing, with nothing worn under her skirt. He caught a glimpse, at that moment she looked up and caught him and quickly crossed her legs. Their eyes met. Poor norcal doesn’t know how to face them now. Both families play tennis together, swim together and go to church together. He was seeking guidance from the good people at Talk Tennis Warehouse. The good Senator then offered this advice.

Senator Jay Bullworth (rubbing his Jill-gel inbued chin): “Hmmm…interesting Jerome. (chuckle). Why not?……Hey Janet, gimme a minute; we’ll continue the lesson later.”

I see London, I see France, guess what norcal saw by chance?
His neighbor’s hoo-hoo caught his glance, and put poor norcal in a trance
It started innocently on a swing, norcal first caught sight o’ that ‘thing’
“Not fur nothin’ butterfly wing, but there it was: Bada-Bing!”

The neighbor’s wife ain’t no flirt, but now she reeks of: disconcert
‘Cause norcal’s gaze, ever so alert, spied the cherry glaze underneath her skirt
He gaze arrived at the fork in the road, and there it was: the motherlode
He thought: “I may end up in hell, but damn, that is one sweet clamshell!”

He knew that he should turn away, but consider what was on display,
He heart beat fast, his mouth got dry, she caught “The Catcher in her Rye”
She crossed her pins somewhat in shame, but norcal already ‘scoped’ her mane
She feared she’d flashed her bearded clam while norcal thought: “why thank you, ma’am!”

Now: how to mend the friendship crack; say “sorry” and just leave at that?
Both you saw her lovin’ cup, so maybe you should just clam up
Just ‘cause she played “Showin’ Shell” don’t mean you should land in hell
Who wears skirts and swoops on swings, and underneath don’t wear a thing?

norcal, you’re a normal man, fret not, it’s imbedded in our glands
Let ‘Miss Holy’ act appalled, but ‘twas ‘twats SHE who “flashed” it after all
Oi sir! she flashed oyster, she could’ve kept her mollusk cloistered
Chill, don’t get nervous; SHE gave you eye-candy lip-service.

Catching a deflated, bifurcated mini football tossed from the Joe Namath hometown of Beaver Falls is no reason to drive you up a wall; so stand tall. Why’d she suddenly forgotten to cover up with some cotten? You were mesmerized by what held your eyes; eyes ‘n thighs tell no lies. Just a simple, ‘grown up’ version of “peek-a-boo….I-see-you.” Don’t beat yourself up over it; beat yourself thinking about it instead (just keep it to yourself). Wishing you “flashes of brilliance” now and in the very near future, I remain,

Your loving servant,
Senator Jay Bullworth
