Recent Opinions on Big Hitter Silver vs Cyber Flash? (in 1.25)

I need to buy a reel of a Cheap 1.25 Silver String (in USA). Looking for recent (if possible long term) opinions on Big Hitter Silver 1.25 vs Cyber Flash 1.25.

Anyone?

Need more context. What's the use case? Player type(s), racquet(s) and typical string setup(s) that they are used to? What are you looking for, mainly, out of this cheap silver string?

Short of knowing any of that, BHS is probably going to be a bit more firm and beefy in feeling than CF, maybe a bit more longevity, but CF is great for comfort. Both excellent, in their own way.

This is NOT for my primary racket/setup - Ezone98 Confidential 1.25 x CyberFlash 1.20 (or RS Lyon 1.20) @ 48/48.

It IS for crosses and full bed in semi to slightly open rackets.

• Basically something in between [Cyberflash 1.20/RS Lyon 1.20 - soft, muted, tone down stiff strings - as cross] AND Tour Bite Round 1.25 [crisp, connected, stiff - as fullbed and as crosses in open frames] which i use successfully in a variety of rackets.
• I am leaning to BHS as many of the "average hitting pace" online reviewers like it - Sansait, TK Tennis, Open Court.
• My last full reel to occupy this spot was the Bussard 1.25 - but after 2-3 sessions it felt a little vague - I know I know all polys lose playability but for my level I need a little more. Example of a poly that has good playability (but not the feel of grey poly) for me is Pro Line Evolution 1.25

Hey tnb3, I went through an experiment this winter to determine which silver round poly to buy a reel’s worth. Tested Weiss Cannon Silverstring 1.25, Tourna BHS 1.25, and Topspin Cyber Flash 1.25.

I put the BHS and CF, full beds, in two RF97s which are very close in spec. Strung up back-to-back, tensioned both at 48 lbs. Then played exclusively with them for about three weeks, alternating with them during each session. Tracked tension loss by pitch drop. Both came off my lockout stringer at the same pitch. (Used Silverstring in a different racquet.)

Between BHS & CF, my immediate impression was I preferred the feel of BHS. CF is a bit duller. That remained the same until the end. CF also dropped in pitch more than BHS indicating slightly worse tension maintenance. At ~7 hours, both were toast but BHS had stayed a little more lively a little longer. Both seem about equally slippery.

Silverstring was great, if you’re curious, had equally good feel as BHS and better tension maintenance, but is $45 more per reel.

My final ranking was 1) BHS, 2) Silverstring, 3) CF.

I’ve read on here that BHS and CF are the same string as they both come from Germany. They may come out of the same plant, but it seems to me the recipes are slightly different.

BHS is such a bargain, and at least to me, a better string than CF. Your stringage may vary.

To me the CF was the best, more feel and crisper, but soft, great string. BHS was dull and too muted, Silverstring was even duller.

I have read the same (that BHS and CF are the same) but in my limited experience (I tried them at different times and atdifferent technical abilities) they didn't feel like each other - CF was more "rubbery" which may be what you felt as dull.

BHS is $81 shipped, Silverstring is $93 shipped. Now?

I do agree that different people feel different things! This has been repeated multiple times in my own personal experience and with people around me.

Well, the prudent thing would be order sets of both and compare directly, BEFORE ordering a reel…the TWudent thing would be order both reels!

Silverstring is clearly a different recipe than BHS & CF as it’s substantially lighter in color than those. Also uncurls differently from being wrapped around a cylinder. My impressions of Silverstring are from another racquet, but it definitely lasted a bit longer than BHS, contrary to TWU Lab data.

At nearly the same price, might be a better $/hr proposition than BHS?

Based on my 330+ set string-stash (OK OK about 1/2 of my stock was a gift to me) and 100+ racket-hoard nothing I do is "prudent".

I think I will go to BHS since I am picky about my color of silver. Cyberflash is already light for me for me to accept Silverstring

I’ve been using BHS on and off for years. It’s by far my favorite round aluminum budget poly.
