"Recommended tension" by racket manufacturers

Any racket has the so-called "recommended tension" adviced by its manufacturer. For example, it is "50-60" lbs for K90, "53-63" lbs for BLX Pro Open, and so on.

In your experience, did you normally end up finding the optimal string performance within that range, or is it something completely bogus and you always feel fine stringing rackets below or above that "recommended tension" according to your own favorite tension number?

I have went way over+under, the recommended tension means nothing to me.It is all about how the racket plays at different tensions.

On Dunlop 90" rackets with 18x20 pattern, which are quite light for players rackets (MW 100, etc), they keep recommending 25-29kg. I actually find 25 pretty high for them.

Generally you should be able to find your optimal tension somewhere within the recommended range. On the high end there is no reason to even try going more than 2-3 pounds above the upper limit. On the low end if you are using poly or kevlar often the ideal will be below the low end of the range.
