Records that Nadal will and won't break of Federer's

While I think Nadal will eventually win more Grand Slams in his career than Federer, I think there are certain records of Federer that Nadal won’t be able to break, including:

Most consecutive weeks ranked number one
Win three grand slams in a year in three different years
Win at least two grand slams in a year in five different years
Most consecutive Grand Slam finals reached
Most consecutive Grand Slam semifinals reached
Win three consecutive Grand Slams twice
Win at least 10 tournaments in a year for three consecutive years
Your thoughts?

All correct except this one.

At this rate FO and Wim are his to do as he pleases.

Nadal will not break 16 slams. I know it seems all rosy now with only being 7 back, but it won't happen. Rafa will not always get such easy draws.

Will break:

1) Total # of titles (not a record, but will surpass Federer's haul)

Maybe/Maybe Not (Going to be close):

1) At least 2 slams for 5 years - didn't look likely before this year that's for sure

2) Total Number of Slams - I'm on the fence about this one. He only won two slams in a year, once, before this year...and he certainly needed to pick up the pace...which he did this year.

Doubtful:

1) Total years ending #1
2) Total weeks @ #1
3) Total consecutive weeks @ #1
4) Three slams in 3 years
5) 11+ titles for 3 consecutive years
6) WTF titles (not a record, but won't surpass Federer)

Records that Federer won't break of Nadal's:

1) Grand Slam matching winning percentage
2) Tour match winning percentage
3) Total Masters 1000 titles
4) Their H2H (with each other)

....and Nadal is just 24 years old. :)

Wont break:
Consecutive wins against top ten players: Federer, 26 (Nadal's record was 9 when I last checked about a year ago)

Consecutive wins over players ranked outside the top 5: Federer, 117 (finished at USO-09 by Del Potro who was then ranked #6)

Consecutive Grand Slam Final appearances: Federer, 10
(and in 2nd place - also Federer with 6)

Winning a tournament without losing serve (Federer is the only player to have done this twice since record keeping began in 1990-ish. Berdych is the only other player to have done it, but only once)

Most tournament finals won in succession: Federer, 24

Maybe will break:

- Competing in all four Grand Slam finals at least 4 times each.

- Winning at least 9 tournaments on each of: grass, clay and hard-court.

Those are some good ones.

Others that Nadal won't break:

56 consecutive wins on hardcourt
65 consecutive wins on grass

5 consecutive titles at two majors

Win 3 different majors at least 4 times each

Appear in all 4 major finals in a calendar year 3 times

Federer won 94.3% of his matches from 2004-2006, Nadal won't match this for whatever his best three consecutive years turn out to be

People are a little to hasty in saying that Nadal will get 16+ slams. Remember back to Fed, after he had won the Australian Open this year, people claimed that he would be able to get 20 slams easily and now look where he is.

I think this stat is quite fantastic and would take something phenomenal from Nadal to break this!

The only one of those records that I think he can beat is this:

Win at least two grand slams in a year in five different years

The rest of those ain't going down.
